Give me a spell.

I didn't name names.

And I wasnt rude and I didn't take any pot shots.

Unless you call the truth a pot shot.

And frankly I'm heartily sick of posters spewing vitriol against my club after a loss.

And then going silent after an impressive win.

If you are gonna call out the club - repeatedly- after a loss then show some spine and put your hand up you might have got it wrong.

It's the opposite of fair weather supporters.

I wasn't one calling us out last week but it will take a lot more than a win against a pretty average team to get me really excited.

It was a good win though and that beats losing everytime.

Yeah, Ralphy just showed it at half time of the Lions V Freo game.

Fair brain fade by Harmes.  Not that I think he would have got a game next week, but I think he'll be sitting one out in the cooler now, not even the mugoos

A reminder that was the first time our 2021 draft class have all played together in the one game.

Jason Taylor just doing his thing once again.

Another under the radar but highly effective game by Nibbler. Gets little recognition but is a great contributor.

Nibs kicked 2 of the best goals today.

Sorry Daz, being a bit lazy, but which players are we talking here specifically?

I should add that I use to have alot of respect for Harmes (and still love him deep down too), but also have more love and respect for May.

Dogs are a good side.

But I think that we can all agree that the Swans are very good.

Especially at home.

It was a good win in sweltering conditions.

With some key players back in form.

I'm excited enough.

Keen to hear the thoughts of those posters who practically wrote our season off and blasted the coach and players after our loss last week.

Some remarkably definitive comments were made, given we were beaten on the home deck of a pretty good team that the bookies had as slight fav.

You know who you are.

Whilst I enjoyed todays win very much the Dogs aren’t much chop. They applied little serious pressure and gave us plenty of space. And seriously can’t we bring up the issues that this team and club face without being derided for being overly negative? P.S. You’re very good at being sanctimonious

no idea how Bevo is kept on. He refuses to focus on defence and they have missed finals many times

Possibly two visits to a grand final in seven years has something to do with it.

There was a wonderful moment late in the last quarter where Clarrie ran to the bench after a magnificent goal assist effort. The Demons crowd stood and clapped and cheered him for that and other obvious reasons. Showing him love and respect. Kayo did not show this scene at all. Disgraceful editing. Doesn’t suit their narrative.

As an asides, I actually think playing Rd 0 was an advantage to us.  Rd 1 teams are usually a little scratchy, but we had a proper game last week, not a practice match per the dogs and think we are that bit more match fit as a team compared to them.

Well at least that's what I told myself during the week after our loss to the Swans and I guess it transpired as such.

BBB & TMac , who would have thought ? Marty Hore looked like he'd never left the club.

Is the Mcg bigger than Scg?

We ran them into the ground in the second half. Used the width of the ground and took the ball out of the contest. Waited for a good handball receive and went deep instead of bombing it.
Credit where it's due, this was a good coaching performance.

As an aside Daz, I would seriously think about MonizXX next week possibly replacing Woey!

I believe it is but I doubt the Swans would have given us that much space today. Or do you have another point?

Here to celebrate a 4th straight season of knowing early on that at least my team can play good footy. So grateful for that.

Our ground, our game

Clarrie showed unbelievable skill and strength on the field and in himself

Gawn imperious

An angry Steven May is the best Steven May

Don't know what 'goals' did to Jack Viney but he's got them in his sights and is gonna keep kicking them

Kozzie + windsor combined pressure on the flanks is going to be my new favourite thing

BBB knee be free, please. We look so much better with him holding up the cartilage

A great win for the "Salo effecters"

Go you mighty Dees

Lever's disposal has never been one of his strengths. Kicks the ball in a rainbow trajectory

I'm surprised we don't have a player running by for the handball.

What about spotting up Big Maxie v Geelong a couple of years ago. Possibly won us the premiership with that kick.

Can I just say to start with, I really enjoyed Sunday arvo 1pm time slot. All those years we wanted to be relevant but being a part of those Thursday night matches that make getting to the game really difficult to get to but Sunday arvo MCG bathed in sunlight, nowhere else I’d rather be!

Plenty of positives to take from today, and really looked all over them for most of the game apart from the very beginning. I thought we got back to the basics of who we are and going hard at the contest, while also setting up well for the interceptions.

What was really pleasing was to see TMac and BBB play well, I’ll admit I had no idea what to expect from them in terms of output so I set the bar pretty low. I wanted TMac to compete and not get beaten in the air, and I want BBB to lead up and present to demand the number one defender. Both did those things and so much more.

I was also really happy that Hore has taken his chance and run with it, very strong game from him.

Apart from that I feel like one of the other traits that looked more like “us” was looking to provide opportunities for each other, it felt like players were more interested in doing team first options rather than blazing away. No one epitomised that more than Clarry when he passed off to JVR for his last kick. I think every Dees fan wanted him to take the shot and kick the goal, but he did the right thing by the team and that’s what we need more of.

Going to be very interesting to see team selection for next week, do they give Petty another week in the two’s for match practice? Based on that performance you can’t drop BBB, he did everything asked of him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
