Unless we lose one of JVR or Petty, I can't see us going big on any opposition KPF.

Well, I dont rate either of JVR or Petty that highly, so I would make JUH a massive offer he could not refuse

Doggies need picks to rejuvenate their list. They need defenders and Naughton ain’t going. Darcy will play Forward and they’ll sign English.

Dogs definitely need to improve their defence. In a perfect world JUH traded for Petty and something would be good for both clubs.

Shame it won't happen

I would love any of Smith, Jamara, Weightman, or Richard's. Either way I'd love to pick the eyes out of this falling team.

With the form Naughton is in, there is no way JUH leaves.

More chance of Naughton being traded to WC for cap space then JUH walking to us on a decent deal.

Media reports about possible smoke around the Bont.

As captain was part of their review - obviously thing's not working.... might be able to pry out if things don't improve.

Go and get the Bont!

It is a good idea, D_J; suits the Dogs defensively, heals the MFC forward line (and most probably encourages the kickless to be far more mobile with an attacking forward like JUH onboard). If only it could happen!

They will sack Bevo before they let the Bont walk out. Take that to the bank.

If I was at any club I’d be making public offers just to watch the dogs house burn

Mostly because I am sadistic and enjoy watching other clubs implode

But secondly - if it frees up a bont, a marra, a Riley sanders.... and we can get our hands on one happy days

I’m with you to an extent. Makes for a great thread on a ladder of which team you hate most ordered from 1 (most hated) to 17 (least). Doggies are not in my top 8 at all.

Yeah, I like MFC.

That's it.

Surely they’d sack everyone from the president to the boot-studder before losing Bont..?

Might be time for a Bont thread!!!

The Bont is a shining example of a footballer and how the game should be played.

Hard to envisage a trade scenario that would be worth their while.

Bont's book has a boy with Demon colours. Omen? A certainty to be at the Dees 🤪

Stranger things have happened. After all, Ryan Griffen left as Dogs captain to join GWS.

I always think that no individual is bigger than the club; but the Bont is definitely an exception to that rule.

Him leaving the Dogs would be the equivalent of Max leaving the Dees.

Off topic question. What's Max King's contract situation? The Saints look like a perennial middle of the road team, perhaps we can persuade him to come here?

Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
