The free kick against Balta for the push in the back, late in the game, in front of the goal, was a shocker. Perfectly executed tackle. should have been HTB against Carlton.

I know its a tough game to umpire but that was pure incompetence.

Interesting to read Voss’ comments this morning about their heavy loading over the past 4 weeks, and that their strategy has been to effectively use the early bye as their season starter.

Wonder what our strategy is?

Don't mention the L word.

Seems to be extremely triggering for some on here.

Can you post a link to voss' comments please.

Thanks in advance.

Also that TDK 50 metres (more like 65 metres) penalty and goal didn't help. 50 metres penalty wasn't even there in the first place. 🙄

Particularly those that think considering potential mitigating factors to help understand a poor performance equals making excuses.

But on serious note, that's an interesting comment from Voss. Would help explain their fade out against the blues, and perhaps also their strategy to attack so aggressively early (ie to build a winning buffer).

It was at the 7:50 mark of his post match press conference:

That's a great point about attacking early to create a buffer.

I was taken aback when he said they have been planning this since November… it’s some serious forethought and strategy.

I have always been a big fan of early momentum. Given the top 8 is typically settled after round 8 its critical to get off to a good start

I'd be filthy if I was a tigers fan.

How could the AFL not find a way to ensure the tigers had at least a 6 day break. Ridiculous.

I went to a music trivia night at a brewery instead of watching Carlton and I won a slab. I'd call that a win I guess.

@binman just wondering on your thoughts of the Richmond gameplan and style with Yze in charge?

did anyone else notice cripps throw the ball from underneath the pack to cerra for the snap goal in last quarter?

He's making a habit of this lately old Crippa and getting away with it.

Agree - applies to both individual games and seasons.

Def a calculated gamble by the lions to risk early season losses by tinkering with their fitness program, if that's what they've done (I haven't watched the clip yet).

One they obviously think is worth taking.

3 ACLs in 5 games.

AFL scheduling 5 day turnarounds and four games in humid conditions on slippery grounds.

Nothing to see here.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
