Given he is one of our best field kicks this is terrible news

Courageous act with undeserved consequences - speedy recovery Jake

The only player to play Bowsers role is Salo. We're missing Gus big time already, he could've plugged in either position in the midfield or half back.

still think we need salem more in midfield than defensively

we'll have to cobble a back 7 together out of may - lever - tomlinson - rivers - howes - mcvee - one other

windsor to be a sheezel across half back?

hore to resume his afl career?

woewodin or pup brown to emulate their dads and kickstart careers as defenders?

Let’s see what Hore can do……big big loss, at this rate we’ll be fielding half a VFL side soon enough

Wait what? Are there more injuries besides Bowey, Petty, McAdam, Hunter and Melksham? Did we get more injuries in the practice match today??

One tough cookie is Bowey.

I wish we could play him in the fwd line at times.

This season is starting to suck already.

He'll be back in time for the late season surge.

Will be missed horribly in the meantime. Climibng towards Neville Jetta levels of underrated, though quite a different player.

No but we’re fielding a weak side. Try these names on for size Petty, Hibberd, Grundy, Bowey replaced by Schache, Laurie, Windsor and Howes. I guess what I’m trying to say is we can’t afford any more key injuries, Schache can’t play ever again. It really makes the non playing of Grundy embarrassing. There was a Flag up for grabs and we didn’t even pick our best side. All the club apologists over this preseason would  be mocking any other club who did what we did. Amateur hour. And yes I will keep banging on about it because we’re a rung below these clubs now and it’s hard to get back up. We almost need to bottom out and get some top picks.

Good luck Jake take it easy let it heal before you start pushing yourself. Very painful from memory hard to get comfortable, etc.!!

Windsor into the midfield and Salem back (once Hunter is back).

… and before Hunter is back?  Woewoden to HB perhaps. Snr started there as I recall.

Agree Mono would love to see Taj play half back, I remember when Shane started out on the back flank he was very good.

I thought he was one of pir better players before getting injured, and one of our most important disposers. I'd argue our most important now that Salem looks set for more midfield.

Jake will be sorely missed.
Has he missed a game since his debut? Can’t recall any.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
