Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The SCG is really easy to get to from the CBD on game day. Just hop on a light rail tram in the city and it virtually takes you right to the front door.

Getting back to the city on the other hand after the game.....massive lines to get back onto the light rail. Last year (round 24) I cheated by walking over the bridge and somehow getting a bus on Anzac Parade straight away.

That’s why I am considering staying at the Airport as after game the light rail will go the other way.

It’s funny, when I fly to Melbourne for games my wife and I will go out for lunch / dinner at a restaurant then drinks at a pub before the games starts and because we’re staying in the city we have the luxury of the Melbourne tram network.

When attending the SCG we drive in, the public transport is not as user friendly as Melbourne’s in terms of convenience. No trains to the ground only buses, not sure if the recently upgraded tram network goes there. So we park close by and walk straight to the ground.

@hardtack or @Sydee may be able to shed some light on this for you.

We are staying about a 20 min walk or 7 min Uber drive away from the scg so that’s fine! Just would love to have a few drinks with other Melbourne fans and then head to the ground :)

We normally park in Crown street Surry Hills and walk from there - there are lots of bars / restaurants around there if you want to dine ahead of the game - not a bad option as the food is ridiculously expensive and generally awful

The light rail is a decent option from Central - takes around 20 minutes then short walk to SCG

FYI, just spoke to the SCG and all MCC members (any category) can purchase reciprocal members tickets (1 member and 1 guest) to this opening round match BUT only from the members ticket booth on the actual day, in person, from 5pm (half an hour before the member gates open). Seems a bit risky booking flights and accom if the members is a sell out on the day.

Would be interested to know if any MCC members on this forum have purchased reciprocal members tickets to the footy up there recently and if there were any problems? I last used my MCC membership at the SCG almost 30 years ago and the members then was only busy on cricket days, not footy.

I'm in Sydney at the moment & decided to do a scg tour. That ground has nothing on our G.

Anyway the goal posts aren't in yet so I asked when they're going in. The guide said probably the day before the game. Nothing like last minute work.

Probably when I'll get my ticket /barcode to actually enter the ground.

A number of tickets from our allocation for Opening Round have become available. Whatever tickets we don’t use we have to give back to Sydney. Needless to say we’d rather OUR fans use them. If interested, please email:

[email protected]

for the Ticketek link to purchase.

These tickets are for seats in Bays 2 and 3 in the Bradman Stand.

Any problems/issues please PM me

The reciprocal tickets are pretty expensive for the privilege - think it was close to $80 last year when I looked into it?

The public tickets are less dear ($45?) and give access to the rest of the stadium, try to sit near bays 2 and 3 which is where the Demon Army is! Or see WCW's post below to sit with us 😁

That's fair. You'd want to make sure there are goal posts first.

You’re better of buying tickets and getting decent seats, the bay allocated is in the pocket and viewing is restricted as the ground has a massive crown. I sat there rd 24 last year, never again. Was better of watching it at home on tv.

Seats were fine. Lack of noise from a lot of the Dees group and war we were watching was worse than the view.

Great job to the cheer squad though!-thanks for fronting up every game!

Contradictory?

If you liked the seats I’m happy for you, I’ll never sit there again. I sat behind the goals up high  on the opposite end and had a great view.

Was it just me or was there a race / tunnel right in front of the  goals at the Park Rd end?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
