2024 Preseason Camp in Lorne

Featured Replies

Reading an article yesterday that we will be going on a pre season camp.

Anyone know where the camp is held at and what dates confirmed?

The club has always done Maroochydore but since Covid that has stopped.

  • Demonland changed the title to 2024 Preseason Camp

If you're reading this Salo, please pack the brick in the bottom of the backpack.

Do they really need to go on a camp?  The male bonding espirit de corps stuff is a worn out cliche in the 21st century.

They already have to constantly travel between two training venues.

The Crows and Tigerland song say HI.

It is the quickest way to break down barriers and help integrate a new group into the team structure and also provide close daily contact for the youngsters with our core playing group via the use of positive team building exercises. Eating Together breakfast, lunch and dinner and spending time together after hours. Rekindling the love for each other after a horrendous fade out two years in a row. The coaches and players can benefit from this type of exercise, like we did in SA & WA in 2021.😁😁

Mmmmm…lorne 😋

The Lorne sausage, also known as square sausageor slice, is a traditional Scottish food item made from minced meat, rusk and spices.[1] Although termed a sausage, no casing is used to hold the meat in shape, hence it is usually served as square slices from a formed block. It is a common component of the traditional Scottish breakfast.

Spot on, DZ. I liken it to one great big slumber party 🎉 🥳 🎊 And who doesn’t love a slumber party?!

In the same vein, albeit to a much lesser degree, I love interstate matches because it’s a bonding experience like nothing else. We all get early flights so we can spend time together before the match and at the end of the match we hang out together, have dinner, drinks, whatever then mostly sleep together in the same hotel or hotel room or a nearby hotel or even share a bed (I’ve slept with so many members of the DA it’s not funny 🤭). We meet up for brekky then hang out together in groups ‘til our flights home are due. This is as opposed to matches in Vic where we pack up the gear and go our separate ways.

I'd much rather my first experience of Steven May be in a coach ride to Lorne than on the training track thank you very much.

Is the camp before or after Christmas?

I'm not entirely sure to be honest, I presume it's after Christmas?

When it was at Maroochydore was it at the Maroochydore multi sports complex ?

I played there in a Masters carnival in October it’s a great facility with six or so ovals with a carpet like surface

Its humid but so is Brisbane Alice and Darwin and there is warm water surf and golf for recreation

no offense to Lorne but I know where I’d be going!

It’s next week. Mustn’t go for very long because they have time off at Xmas.

I think the footy department cap cuts and probably the shorter preseason took care of the interstate training camps. Huge expense to get up there for a week +.

A few days at Lorne can accomplish the team bonding for a fraction of the cost

Nah. Both are as greasy AF but square sausage tastes much better. You can actually sense your arteries furring up as you eat it.

Pretty sure it was, on Fisherman's Rd. Was always a great trip to the open sessions. Really miss it. After training and the player meet we would call past the Mooloolaba fish markets to take a seafood feast home. It was a good set up and always got a great crowd.

But wait, there’s more! I once slept with *10 DA members at the same time. Throw in a Board member for good measure, and what a night! Did you suspect that????

*it was Sleep at the ‘G so technically I slept with 800 people at the same time. 😅
