Five Demons in the top 50. Not too shabby. Thanks Derwayne… I dislike you a little less now. 😆

*2024

I think we already have a thread for this. Worth merging just to add the visually appealing list.

Considering how underrated he is in the wider competition, Viney in the top 10 let alone top 50 is a big surprise.

Good to see Jack get some recognition. Think he surprised a few on Brownlow night with how good a year he had.

  • Demonland changed the title to Dwayne Russell's 2024 Top 50

An [censored] to have Oliver at #30 for 2024!!!

Ok 2023 has been a bad year for him but scribes write him off at their peril and have massive egg on face next year!!

Edit:   Seriously!!!    Idiiot is censored!!!    What is the world coming to!!!  I'm putting in this edit just in case readers think I used a really bad word...

Bad words are subjective. Posters might not think it is rude when referring to others as idiots but posters most definitely take offence when it is they that are being referred to as the idiot.

Believe me anytime someone on this site was called an idiot they complained. It was easier for moderating purposes to censor the word.

And here I was thinking you called him an [censored].

I will let this one slide because you are the only poster with an aqua colouring to your name. 😜

Andy, I see that you have special rights when calling someone an idiiot and able to bypass the censor...

I guess I should be grateful you let me off the hook, this time....🙄

Edit:  LOL the censor even works in quoted posts!!!  But only for the singular!!!

Top 50 for ' 24^? Means absolutely nothing.

Birdcage carpet.

Anyone can pick with reasonable accuracy many of the top 50 esp top 20 as theyre the elite players who pop up most seasons unless injured.

Seasons over Dwayne. Go away. No doubt you'll be back in March blabbering alongside  BT.

Bit harsh. He's part of a 24/7 sports station, with an emphasis on AFL (thankfully). It was simply an opinion piece showing rare respect for our beloved Jack. I'd listen and read Dwayne's stuff any day if Corn 🌽  is the alternative.

The cyan letters are burning my eyes.

How good would it be if they both “retired” over the off season.   BT could try some more confined space welding or amateur electrical work. (Only joking - first sentence excepted)

I’m not jealous or anything but how come Luci gets that beautiful shade of blue? Asking for a friend who’s so jealous she can’t sleep at night.

many on here speciously overate our list in my view WE will struggle to make the 8 WE blew two years of chances and other teams are now equal or better

Gawn being shaded by Jacko will sting a little.

11-50 is definitely up for debate but you couldn’t really argue with the Top 10 - personally don’t think Viney is in that group but happy Dwayne thinks so

Having mixed feelings toward Luci💚eh, ?  But remember our motto:   'Sheilas Unite'!!  ❤️💙

Btw, how would you pronounce 'Luci':  Lucy or Luchi (exuse the odd spelling but it is the only way I can show the phonetics)

Silly Dwayne. Everyone on here knows it should be

5. May
4. Viney
3. Gawn
2. Oliver
1. Petracca

😄😄 😄

Gone are the days are all of Trac, Oliver and Gawn having a mortgage of the top 10/15 of everyone's list but well done to Viney for cracking #7. Never thought I'd see him that high!

The umpires loved his season too.

Definitely Lucy.

And zero mixed feelings about you Luci… regardless of the colour of your username. It could be 💩 brown and I’d still love you. 😁

SHEILAS UNITE!!!

SHEILAS UNITE!!!

Hmmm...in my mind's eye I've always thought of 'Luci' pronounced as Luchi...must be the Italian language influence...

Whatever the pronunciation I'm very fond of the endearment!

Yep, there are precious few Sheilas on this site so we need to stick together!!

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.
