Has a club ever matched a Restricted Free Agency bid? I can't recall any (but it's not something I follow, either).

gw$ and crom either matched or said that they would match for cameron and dangerfield, both who wanted to go to the cats, and forced trades

That seems like a risky strategy by the clubs. If the trade isn't agreed, they're stuck with a player who doesn't want to be there (albeit in these two examples, two very good players). Nevertheless, it obviously worked out in these instances.

Jumping the gun a bit, but with likely a bit of cash off the books after season 24

Tmac, BBB & Brayshaw it will be interesting what the club does.

Load up in Petty? Or target who?

Not a free agent yet, but scratch Ben King off the list of targets for a few more years. Just signed an extension til end of 2026. Will be a free agent then.

Ollie Florant, Will Hayward and Tim English would be my 3 targets.

The feeling right at the moment is that both Florent & Hayward are more likely to leave than stay. Remarkably, the Blues are heavily into both.

Early days but any word or feeling that we will be active in the FA/trade space?

The Sydney Swans main priorities are 1. Errol Gulden and 2. Logan McDonald. It is great to see you back @goodwindees. Would love hear from you more often.

Thanks for the intel @goodwindees - it isn’t the most exciting free agency class but these are two players who would instantly improve us and be walk up starting 22. I hope the club is putting in some work if they’re not after a bigger target.

Thanks Storm Boy. You’re correct, Gulden is in for a very significant increase and WA clubs are coming hard for Logan. I try to pass on innocent little snippets here and there, would love to pass on more, but must be mindful.

TMac

BBB

Brayshaw

Smith

Melksham (potentially)

Last year of contract

Hunter (30 this season)

Tomlinson (31 this season)

Laurie (22 this season, can he break into the side?)

There’s a lot of money right there, I’d be offering Petty (signed until end 2025) a new contract and definitely making a play for JUH.

On a side note, I think JUH will be on the move, hopefully to us, where does that leave the Dogs. Can’t wait for the 19th and 20th team to come in.

Swans will go incredibly hard for JUH as well, will probably trump our offer, they’ve already thrown the kitchen sink at Larkey and Naughton

It's not even round 1 and we have some articles highlighting rival club interest in players and potential FA moves.

While not everyone's cup of tea, particularly when the seasons barely begun, I'll always be interested in the player movement space and the possibilities out there to improve our list.

This article can kick us off, with alleged strong interest in swans RFA Will Hayward from "multiple clubs" and the Hawks supposedly entering the race for JUH.

12 % increase in the cap next season.

Brayshaw retired, BBB & TMac most likely to retire, Schache and Smith out of contract, Melksham could potentially go around again. The big one is what are Petty’s plans? I think JUH will explode this year, I can see clubs (Sydney) offering him a long term deal at 1.2 million per season. Even if Petty stays I’d still be throwing massive coin at JUH.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
