Carlscum won't make finals next year.

Top 4 next season I would say. Voss has actually shown himself to be a better coach than most gave him credit for (me included). The Carlton list is the right age/experience/quality profile to make the next step.

Two question come out of tonight.

One - Would we have beaten Brisbane.

Two - Would the Pies have beaten Brisbane if we had won two weeks back. And of course the Pies had gotten over Carlton.

If any MCC PEEPS have tix to the big dance and don’t want to go let me know. Mrs Super is a long long time Pies person and I want her to go (despite her protestations she wants to stay home with her Demon boys ) - her fam all pies and I have to say generally have a brain and are reasonable.

A 3 is easily converted into an 8 😊

That's a pretty long wait for a team that just made a prelim. Unless you're planning on a few in-between, which is unwise cos I think we all know the Dees have got the next three sewn up.... 🥴

But bad luck No. 31, you guys gave it a good shake for your first finals series in a decade. Lots to look forward to.

2028 for the Blues Quintuple ... 5-peat Flag 😝 😁

The Blues window is definitely open now, just need to keep working to improve and evolve, but all the right ingredients are there which hasn't been the case for a long time. I am pretty happy how the season panned out after the horror 6 losses in a row.

I am still bullish on the Dees as well, just need to look at the foward line set up and perhaps adjust some tactical things. Tinkering rather than wholesale refurbishment that some understandably dejected souls here think.

Would be happy to split some silverware with the Dees up to 2028 😊

So long as Math is being butchered for the sake of comedy then carry on. I won't torque of it again..

Torque is underrated.

I think I've listened to Christian Woman by Type-O-Negative at least 5 times in a row on this bus replacement/train/tram ride back from Mitcham.

It's the only thing that makes me feel good right now for some reason.

Sorry , can't help. Do have tickets to academy awards, Wimbledon men's final, Skylab, birdcage on cup day. Let me know if she's at all interested . Will shout her a frock as well.

These sort of comments are uninformed. Look at Essendon after 2000. Look at Geelong and Fremantle this year. There’s absolutely no guarantees in this game.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
