After all that talk no Scache or Grundy, but I don’t hate the changes. Close to the minimum disruption to a team that did everything but win last week.

Tommo is good, adds some height out back to free up Lever.

I get the Spargo inclusion, fan of his i50 delivery which was an issue last week. But will we play him with Chandler? Chandler has not been good of late and aside from a very good start to the year, very patchy. Will need to be present this week to earn a spot next week if we get there.

Fascinated to see who the sub will be. Can’t see it being Grundy.

I reckon there is a bit of a myth in that.  He has played just 8 games this year.  Subbed out in two (winning games) and we lost two.

If he plays this week it will because we have no better option but his performance this year (KB aside) hasn't been convincing or finals worthy.

Better when he plays with May and Lever... 5-0 in this case according to B-B-P

Also, at least one of those games he was subbed out was for Smith and Tommo had 100% game time until late in the 3rd Qrt, this is an excellent way to use him and his fitness

Here we go for Six and 0 with Tomm-o !!!!

Is anyone else frustrated with Van Rooyen and annoyed that's he's out due to stupidity?

I know it's his first year but he has gone some silly things this year and when our forward line is falling down he puts himself out with a silly elbow to the chin which he didn't need to do.

IF HE DOESN'T DO A PUBLIC APOLOGY - DELIST HIM! 😈

You'd imagine Hibberd would be sub.

Would be bizarre to completely drop him after his superb shut down job on Jamie Elliot last week.

Yikes. So when Tmac is rucking we have no tall forwards.

Has Goodwin lost his mind. Tmac can’t jump more than 3cm off the ground. This is 2017 all over again

COME ON DEMONS!!!

Seems that way but don't worry we have Sparrow and Anb up there.

I'm not even confident when he is there, so there's that.

Still can't believe Maynard gets off while Jvr gets a holiday.

Can the sub be Smith given he's on the bench or any of the other INT? OR does it have to be a named Emergency?

Spargo?

I can’t believe Hibberd is out WTF are they doing, the guy can rest his Achilles once he’s retired, unbelievable & they player a plonker In Tomlinson

Salem & Tmac are ineffectual & Grundy our shining pre season ray of hope can’t even get a look in with a injury hampered Max

This game is lost in selection

A bloody disgrace

Bandi, my old mate - what do you think the selection logic is? Serious Question.

The crazy part is Collingwood dominated us early with their marking while we couldn’t catch a cold.

Carlton have gone small in the forward line as well so if we can just pressure them enough to bomb it in may and lever will have a field day

On second  thoughts probably Schache,  in case our one tall doesn't repeat his previous good form. Oh wait.

Does tgis mean maybe Grundy has already checked out?

I thought he'd  get a look in. One tall down on form with one ruck concerns me a little.

Then again it's somthing different.

But Laurie not for me. Wasn't sighted last week

Uninspiring ins.. although happy that Thommo gets to play a final for us.

On one level, yes, but acts like that will happen when a naturally physical and competitive player is young - last week we saw examples of our forwards wilting from contests - JVR doesn't. He'll "take learnings" from this and will be better for it, be it this year or next. Frankly too he's looked like he could do with a bit of a mental if not a physical rest and reset.

Last week we had 6 marking talls - 4 forward: TMac, JVR, Smith and Fritsch and 2 back Lever and May.  This week we still have 6 but it's more conventional 3 forward: TMac, Smith and Fritsch and 3 back Tomlinson, Lever and May.  It will be very interesting to see who we go with as sub - last week it was another small in Laurie, wonder if we'll go bigger this week?

Rinse and repeat the other end though.

Relying on May to curb Curnow. And Fritta and Kossie to put on a show. Where else will our goals come from. Maybe Tracca?

Grundy must be SOOooo frustrated.  We should be using that energy. If picked I think he might take some angry pills and show people what he really can do. Surely he cares about his future and doesn't want to go out with a whimper!

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
