Yikes. So when Tmac is rucking we have no tall forwards.

Joel Smith will ruck IMO

Tmac can’t get off the ground.

Just when I was just starting to come around again..

We went in last week with one less tall in defence and that proved costly and now we're going in with one less tall with no genuine tall up forward when Max needs a rest.

Yikes..

Grundy is named as an emergency with Hibberd Laurie and Schache but if he can't get a game this week it is bye bye.

Guessing Hibberd will get the Sub roll.

Huh, I thought Grundy would come in for JVR. Well there you go.

Edit: first said TMAC not JVR

Jordon😪. I hope Grundy is the sub because we might need him but regardless, his non-selection in the 22 makes it completely clear the club is happy for him to move on.

Seriously...

Spargo for Roo is…. An interesting height change 😂

Any snow around

It’s as if our supporter base has no understanding of football. Who plays ruck when Gawn is off????

Gee mate. It's almost like you have no understanding of football

This creates challenges for Carlton’s backline in match ups and forces us to lower our eyes… seems like I’m alone but like it a lot

No Grundy is so dumb.

No idea why Hibberd has been dropped, he was excellent last week but assume he will at least be the sub.

Jordon no thanks.

I like it create a bit of chaos going forward with smalls, plus they are all runners so can push up the ground and help

Good changes.

Tommo in to let Lever get free

Smith up fwd to join T Mac and Fritsch

Cmon Demons!

Guess you just have to have faith in the section committee but so far this year Jordan has failed every-time he has been picked and Schache "granted only emergency" can't even play well at Casey.

Mmmm, you don't think both parties came to an arrangement 6 weeks ago (if not longer)... they're not NOT discussing with him, nor are the 'signaling' to him.

It’s a good move. No point bring in another tall if we just play the same way. May as well bring in someone who can hit a target inside 50.

Is anyone else frustrated with Van Rooyen and annoyed that's he's out due to stupidity?

I know it's his first year but he has gone some silly things this year and when our forward line is falling down he puts himself out with a silly elbow to the chin which he didn't need to do.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
