The proof that he was injury prone was apparent across multiple years. Unfortunately some players are the one who get injured. He never looked fit at the Crows to the truthful. I think the Dees list manager and Goody must have thought we could get a gem if he could stay injury free. My issue was that (1) we have him a 3 year deal (2 years with a trigger for a third was the sensible thing to do ) and (2) it cost us a future 2nd round which given 2024 would have been valuable. I think the Crows might have potentially delisted him after 2023 so they were happy to get such a good trade deal. We gambled. So far a bust but if we can get him fit, he showed signs of his talent. Though his inability to kick over 35 metres was an early issue in the games he did play in 2024.

Yes, I too wish that Shane hadn’t made the conscious choice to tear his Achilles tendon.

It is a well known fact that you can simply train and fitness yourself to the point where your Achilles tendon decides not to tear.

They are very nasty injuries.

It doesn’t matter how much talent you have if you cannot get on the park you are worthless. So far the first two years have been a total loss. The end is near.

Have we stopped putting the boot in?

There is a simple fact here, he had injury problems at the Crows, we gave him 3 year contract and after 2 years nothing to show for it. I hope we get some value in 2026.

And let's not forget he was in fairly poor shape when he arrived at pre season training in 2024.

I blame his poor condtion on himself and the decision to recruit him on Tim Lamb!

Yep has definitely lacked professionalism

That is fair enough, but he was going great in pre season and you can't blame him for an achilles tear.

I hope he gets fit, stays fit and we see his best next year and if not it will be his last with us.

PS: I am still with you on Jeffo and always have been, but next year will probably be the litmus test. Hope he puts on a bit of muscle, stays fit and we see what he can do. We know he has the talent.

With JVR, Kentfield, Petty, Jeffo and maybe AJ, plus Kozzie, Chin, Melk, Fritta and maybe McAdam, we have the players to kick goals

If Jeffo is going to make it he has to improve his goal kicking. He just has to consistently nail those 35 to 40 m out on a slight angle.

4 goals straight or 3.1 makes him useful but 1.4 or 4 points makes him a liability.

That post, without identifying which ones you feel are pathetic, taints every poster.

Wow a bit of historical revision going on here. I did hear from a reasonable sources that he thought about pulling the pin at the end of 2024. Not for lack of passion but rather just continued frustration with his body.

I feel that Adelaide made Lamb panic which explains the three years for a bloke that had never played more than 12 games a season and to say it was no risk considering what was traded seems a little questionable.

I did see some very good things from him in a preseason game but I also watched him in one game where I could not really work out what he was doing where he was trying to constantly get behind a taller defender yet being slower than that defender when the ball came in and out of position to get to the ball.

I hope he can come good and strong some games together but I suspect after this long it's gonna be uphill.

I don’t feel painted. But if others do that is their prerogative.

The premium we paid for Mcadam, i hope all is remembered if a certain CP5 wants out to West Lakes.

I’m not sure that is how it works

Have you labelled our list manager a "moron" or repeatedly said McAdams is unfit?

If not, you're in the clear.

Are you saying he’s lazy? Apathetic? Uncommitted? All of the above?

Shane wasn’t in great shape when he came to us. There’s a combination of reasons, a significant one being that the fitness program he was assigned at Adelaide wasn’t getting the desired results but was persisted with nonetheless. This eroded his confidence and determination which is not surprising given the psychosomatic nature of it. Regardless, folks will say he simply had a bad attitude.

Since he’s been with us he’s been on a customised training program which is occasionally altered according to the progress he’s making in different areas.

It was never gonna happen overnight. He slowly transitioned into his new regimen and it’s working successfully. Even while recovering from his achilles he’s following a tailored program.

Again, credit to Matty Whelan for working with Shane and Selwyn/Tom Couch/physio team, etc. in terms of designing a program that gets the best out of Shane.

Jesus H Christ, he was fit as and did his achilles. Clearly not his fault.

How about backing in one of our players who is down on luck? Not to old to have a late career revivial?

How many wrote off Melksham? including myself

💯

Adam doesn’t need to specify the posts he deems pathetic. It’s blatantly obvious.

Shane will be up against it. Achilles injuries are hard to come back from, especially for a player of his type. For that reason I don't hold a great deal of confidence in him going forward.

Well it better be. They pulled a real number on us with McAdam and the.n ANB. Sure some of this is on us given the circumstances and all. But they need to offer up a hell of a good deal. This year and next first (given where they are likely to finish ) is just to get the conversation started .
