Have Adelaide come out and requested Trac in the trade for McAdams yet?

Apparently they want Trac, a future first and tickets to the Olympics for their whole list! KC said Melbourne would be stupid to ignore this deal because our future first will probably want to go home immediately he finds out about our poor culture.

Melbourne should just leave future 2nd on the table and nothing more. If Adelaide refuse to play ball, then walk McAdam through to the pre-season draft with a massively front ended deal of 900K for year 1 and 150K (approx) for years 2 & 3. The advantage of clearing out the 1.5 mill with Grundy, Harmes, Jordon etc.

44 and 63 for Brockman and we offered F2 for McAdam and Crows knocked it back. Wow.

My Adelaide Neighbour tells me McAdam is good for 2 goals a game and has a good leap.

Future 2nd is a fair trade.

He’s 28 yo player who lost his spot in a team who didn’t even make finals, I'm not sure why we are even going after him let alone trading a 2nd round pick, I suspect he would be delisted by crows as soon as he is out of contract. James Harmes is the same age and shown significantly more though out his career and yet we are happy to walk him out the door for effectively nothing.

He didn’t lose his spot.

He copped a medium term injury in round 6.

He returned to the side in round 17-23 when the Crows were in the thick of a finals spot. He missed round 24 due to a cheekbone injury.

Is this bloke actually worth pursuing ? Seriously I don’t see the appeal tbh

He’s gone at 68% in front of goal since 2021.

Given inaccuracy was the number 1 reason Melbourne went out in straight sets, then yes, I’d say he is worth pursuing at the appropriate price.

Poor shot creation was a far far bigger problem than accuracy. No one is kicking goals from outside 50 on the boundary apart from somehow Steele Sidebottom.

I don’t know why we aren’t chasing key forwards and wings aside from the likelihood the good ones aren’t available.

The hope has to be that McAdam can release Fritsch and Pickett to be the marking and speed we need at half forward to create better shots. Time will tell.

I disagree RE poor shot creation.

xScore take into account a range of factors which assess shot difficulty and success likelihood. And on that metric we should have won a lot of those games we lost, including the final against Collingwood by 20+ points.

I DO think though that repeated efforts, and accuracy misses leads to lack of scoreboard pressure by us, and an increase in scoreboard pressure ON us.

So even if we are creating sufficient shots of sufficient quality to win games, there may be a mental/psychological factor which reduces scoring likelihood even further which the xScore isn't considering, meaning some kind of tweak to the game plan might be required.

* alternatively we kick a bit straighter earlier in games and we break the hoodoo and all is good in the world!

Well a game plan going into the forward line would be a start....

Fair point but I’m still bitterly disappointed that players such as Max Gawn can’t nail a seat shot as far out as the point post that cost us a trip to Brisbane while I have to then see Sidebottom and De Goey nail the tough shots under extreme pressure.

Hopefully McAdam can address our inaccuracy woes, and he can, as I’ve seen him nail low percentage shots on the boundary, including one at Geelong.

If you go through our list, there wouldn’t be too many players batting at 68% from a G.B perspective.

2017 Tigers' chaos ball ?

Or another version of total football where a lot of the players can play different positions or roles within a game.  We need a bit more versatilty regardless

I suppose we've had our version of chaos-ball especially with the forward 50 entries but we'll need to tweak that you'd imagine

And in 2017 (Goodwin's first year in charge) the mantra was 'fearless' football which by and large, was adopted and has stayed.  We're very good at winning the contested ball

Most of all we need a healthy forward line

I have little doubt that repeated “easy misses” creates excess mental strain on the next shot. Try as they may it is hard to put these behind you - self doubt sets in.   Still these are supposedly the best of the best and mental resilience should be part of being a top level player.
Happens in golf to all us hackers, but even at the top where we see a lot of genuine mental self belief - but Greg Norman went through this.

Good question

Is he taking on the same role that Yze had or has that role been tweaked?

You'd imagine he'd have a fair bit of input

Did McAdam approach MFC via his management and say he wanted to play for us, or did we approach McAdam and let him know that we were interested in him?

Either way, a future second round pick, which could sit closer to 20 then 40 if we don't get our [censored] together, seems a high price to pay for a 28 year old with 50 AFL games to his name. If Joel Smith stays fit, he'll have played more games by the same age and we know how inconsistent and injury prone he has been.

So we are missing the finals next year?

The second round usually starts around ND 23ish. We are going to finish 10th?

And we obviously chased him - he only nominate us and we have already offered a trade.

Most likely it will be ND37ish and that is fair value.

So this looks like its booked in to be a trade deadline blockbuster....

The trade period cold have been wrapped up Friday

The trade period could easily be one week, or even 4 days: AFL like it drawn out (like the draft farce 2 days) to get clicks.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
