Already too much. I've always admired our aggressiveness but we need to stop trying to get every shiny new toy we see !

I remember the same complaints and threats coming when it became apparent that we were going to draft Jackson a few years ago.

Honestly... honestly, if you cant put your faith in our recruiting team given their sustained success in recent, and not so recent years, then you may as well just give up on football.

Not sure you can throw Laurie in there considering he hasn't shown anything remotely close ro being AFL standard.

The fact that he has played actual games in the actual AFL would tend to contradict that I would have thought.

Enlighten me which picks where packaged together to acquire Jackson?

The point I am trying to make is that full time paid staff members of professional sporting organisations, with a lifetime of recruiting knowledge and experience, know more than you. Enlightened?

Yeah I've changed my tune on Watson (have already acknowledged this on here..)

After assessing our list deep and thoroughly the outside speed and carry is a significant hole. My Watson comment was also suggested on thr back of talk that Spargo could be looking at a trade potentially.

After going over a bit more in depth I felt that midfield depth especially outside run was a genuine need we had to fill.

Langdon is 28 next year and not getting any better and has had 2 poor years whilst Hunter will be 29 and slowing down. He had a poor back half of the year as evident of finishing outside the top 10 of the best and fairest.

After those two we have no one else under the wings that boast the same running power and speed as what Langdon has. Like literally no one.. we obviously rate wingman highly as part of our game plan hence why we went and gotten Hunter but recruiting Windsor just reassures our depth.

Windsor's high work rate alongside his speed and running power fits a greater need for us.

Speed is where the game is going and it's no coincidence that after watching GWS and Collingwood over the finals series l, they've set the benchmark of being able to provide speed and power from half back and especially on the outside.

Windsor just makes a whole lot more sense in terms of talent but also topping up our depth. I see him being a Lachie Whitfield/Isaac Smith type wingman for us.

Mate you're actually dumber then I thought you were, so I'll spell it out for you. I'm questioning your repeated criticism of our footy clubs recruiting team, not the potential, speculative, and somewhat fantastical pick swap's that you've dreamt up after a few warm VB's. Keep up [censored].

Isaac Weetra played 2 games and he was absolutely not AFL standard. His standard right now is VFL level where he plays well but he hasn't adjusted to AFL standard.

Let's not tip toe around this. Unfortunately Laurie was badly exposed when given a decent run against Collingwood. Even in the games he played this year he showed nothing to suggest he'll make it.

Coming up to his 4th year on the list. He'd wanna really show a stack of improvement over the off season.

I aqually hope he does, because I like him.

Kangaroos coach Alastair Clarkson has flown over to Perth to meet with the West Australian product and is believed to be “infatuated” with Curtin.

“Alastair Clarkson, he has become a little infatuated with Dan Curtin I believe,” footy journalist Ryan Daniels said on Triple M.

“There’s a lot of interest from North Melbourne. I think that’s where this is heading. Dan Curtin’s going to end up at North Melbourne.”

More speculation though not sure I put much stock into it.

If West Coast are offering a f1st for Curtin, could the roos maybe do the same?

I read this yesterday, what I found interesting was that many on here were waiting for Cal Twomey’s draft and he has Curtin going at 10 to Geelong.

It’s a big risk to exchange pick 2 or 3 for a future first round pick.

Perhaps they project Windsor as a positionless sort of midfield who can role through the midfield, wing or forward flank like a Gulden, Josh Daicos style of player...give him the green light to do as he pleases and receive the footy

I understand the desire for Watson, he’s dynamite despite his size, understands how to use his body and reads the play faster than anyone in the draft. And for Sanders, clean hands and quick accurate disposals.

They’d both be ready to play and low risk, high quality players.

Chucking in a late first to move up, I can see it. But it has to be a late first and that’s putting pressure on us next year.

Of the picks to move up I think I’d prefer to elevate 11 to 7/8. Tholstrup is perfectly respectable pick but I like Leake or the choice of talls.

Yes, but we moved up the the draft order to try and get a better player when we could have already got Tholstrup with our original pick 14. If we keep our current pick of 11 and take Tholstrup then we’ve essentially given away two 2nd round picks for nothing.

I think the media are hyping up that Melbourne want to pick him is because JT went over and met with his family and Curtins also which he mentioned was only routine.
JT mentioned he would take best available in his media segment yesterday. Tholstrup may be in first round contention and certainly will be a good player, but isn’t the best available at pick 11.

Wild speculation in much of your assumptions. Stating it is so does not make it true. You have no more idea than any of us if KT is to be picked by us nor if he is best available at 11 (13).

The only 'fact' we know is that JT has a great record of picking what we need. Have a little faith

Bloody hell. We could possibly field a whole team next year with all the names we’ve been linked to.
It’s almost like singing along to Billy Joel’s ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’

Harley Reid, Caleb Windsor, Kynan Brown

Ryley Sanders, Daniel Curtin, let’s trade down.

What I find myself doing (since mid year) is getting sucked into the 'talk' of who's the best draft prospect  etc, etc. I then find myself disappointed we may not get A or B or even C! Then I look at our track record as a club and realise, they know a helluva lot more than me, and most other clubs.

As has been said by many of the more rational posters. We have to trust Jason and the people involved here. They have a proven track record. I wait and will applaud whatever they do Monday.

I can't see Curtin getting past Nth.

We have told Tomlinson he is required and signed up Hore as a back up down back. That tells the world we have some depth concerns.

If that is the case why would we overlook a young gun in Curtin if available who may also play other positions.

It may be we are expecting Kalani White in the 2025 draft as a CFB?

Curtin looks terrific in his highlights package.

Could be smoke and mirrors from clubs?

It may also be that Windsor has a huge amount of improvement in front of him and we are set on him.

Windsor also looks good in his highlights. Our main  'express pace' ATM comes from Pickett, Chandler and Bowey. Another quick will be good.

We gave a done a great job in confusion, so no one really knows with any certainty, who we are likely to take.

I still think though, that if WC are willing to swap 1, we will be the most likely recipient.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
