In nearly every draft I read, Sanders has slipped to our pick. Surely we take him if available, he couldn’t have done much more this year. That is assuming all of the other players in that top “tier” have already been picked.

Easily gone if Hawks pick Watson over Curtin, Dogs will swoop

Leaving us with Curtin, out of that top "tier"?

We do have interest in Curtin (and the Dogs don't), at pick 6, according to Cal T.

Dogs have a lot of young talls already, and Croft in this draft

True, that’s why they won’t draft Curtin

Agree. Thats a Xmas gift for us if Sanders is available at “6”. He’s a high quality skilled midfielder.

I'd love to see Sanders on our list, even if there's every chance he'll be gifted to Tasmania in a few  years.  He's absolute quality and makes the players around him look better.

Is it just me, or does it seem like there are quite a few highly rated Tasmanians this year?

Previous years I can’t recall much talk of talent from the apple isle.

Good signs for the state anyway.

Interesting that Twomey doesn't mention us re team thats are into Leake

Maybe our links to him have been exaggerated? Interesting to see us linked to Tholstrup in this form guide, maybe he is an option at pick 11 if Windsor is gone

This list is the best guest of where they think recruits will go including bids made on players IMO. That would equate to our pick 6 & 11 becoming 7 and 15 which equates to Saunders & Wilson which I don't think is a bad outcome. The only spanner in the works is if Curtin goes at 1 or GCS doesn't match a bid on some of their academy players.

Based on Cal’s rankings, Curtin or Sanders sounds feasible with our first pick.

And Watson

I think there's no chance either of these things happen.

No link with Wilson or O'Sullivan either. Not sure I fully believe it.

Beyond the usual names for our first pick he has us as showing interest in Windsor, Tholstrup and Charlie Edwards.

@Nascent thanks for the the Fox sports rankings read. As per my phantom, there’s still likely some players who might drop here and be available at the 40ish range.

Taylor Goad. Clay Hall. Joel Freijah.   All are very impressive youngsters in this years crop. Ashton Moir could be the biggest wildcard in this years pool.

However we will likely pass on the late 2nd round pick 42 (would prefer us to trade it into a 2024 2nd round pick - possibly with the Power).

I’d be happy if that Shaun Mannagh made it to 42.

He’s mature age, but would be well suited to us as a speedy high half forward or small forward.

Fast, gets possessions and is a nice kick and be hits the scoreboard too.

We'd be laughing if we could get Moir at '42' and he matured to be as good as his previous year suggested.

Hasn’t picked the young doggy in the first 50. Might that mean a gentleman’s agreement to let him go through to the rookie list.

My gut feels we will look to add someone who can have immediate impact.
We are in the flag window and going full tilt at immediate improvement.
Pick 6, praying for Watson (apart from a Reid trade) feels like the best choice to help our struggles forward. Pick 11, best available with a bias towards a quality tall def/frwd which will be desperately needed in 2-3 years. If not a ready made mid pick 11.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
