FWLIW, Alison O'Connor on AFL.com.au is tipping us to win this by 7 points. Interesting...

Yet the odds are still slightly favouring Collingwood. I suspect they might come in again (as they have today) with the announcement of the teams tomorrow night.

Squiggle has it bang on 50% with a slight tilt towards Collingwood. Not sure how that calculation works given most of the models are tipping Melbourne. Although the aggregate model that looks at the top 10 models has it at 50%, with Melbourne to win by...0 points.

The only people I've seen confident about thia game are Collingwood supporters. The level of disrespect and disregard for us as a team as staggering.

Get better soon, Azz 💕

Is it just me or are others going through game scenarios in there head and how tomorrow night will pan out when they're either at work or just having a quiet moment on there own?

I'm feeling nervous as all hell and tomorrow will be a long day. I think because my biggest fear is sitting there having to hear the feral fans at the end of the game because they beat us.

Most dees supporters will be pretending to work over the next 2 days

When do the teams get released?

Not sure, but the parole staff release the Magpie fans just before game time.

I had a dream we kicked the first 3 goals of the game and won by 45 points.
My dreams are never right but take this one to the bank 😂

I’m always fine… til I jump on DL.

Only takes a couple of posts and all confidence in sapped. 😭😭😭

That might just be Mr Squiggles inherent Collingwood bias ;)

The guy is a filth supporter i understand  😉 lol

It’s only week one of the finals and the media requests have already started to come in. Channels 7, 9 and the ABC have asked that cheer squad members (those who can) turn up at various locations this Thursday and Friday mornings for live crosses during their breakfast shows, beginning at 5:30am. We’ll have members turn up, just as we did last year.

Our Collingwood counterparts were also approached for the Thursday morning outside the ‘G live cross at 6am but declined the request because it’s “too early for them.” True story.

If Centrelink opened at 6am it wouldn’t be “too early for them.”

I had a similar dream where we came home with a wet sail and kicked the last 5 goals to win.

But my dreams are really weird in detail, the game was at Fawkner Park for some reason.

It will be Fawkner Memorial Park for Collingwood 😈

I really dont think it will rain much at all now, a shower or 2 maybe.

tmac in the mix

Melbourne key forward Tom McDonald is on track to play his first game in almost four months in the Demons’ blockbuster qualifying final against Collingwood on Thursday night.

McDonald was overlooked for selection in the Demons’ two finals last year due to a foot problem and underwent surgery mid-year due to a serious ankle injury.

But the premiership forward looms as the ideal replacement for ACL victim Jake Melksham after bagging five goals in the VFL last week to press his claims for AFL selection against Collingwood.

He is expected to partner Bayley Fritsch, who has received the all-clear from a foot complaint, and young colt goalkicker Jacob van Rooyen in attack for the clash against the Magpies.

If you can't get in and find your set in 35 minutes something is wrong.

Having said that it will be a bit of a logjam with digital tickets, bag checks and those fake metal detectors can really bog things up sometimes. On second thought get there at 6:30 if you can

They've got detectors for fake metal now? Who would have thought.

Didn't need to watch that to know he won't play.

And they don’t even (pretend to) scan everyone entering the ground anyway.

It is a scam - but then it is AFL (“draw”, MRP, tribunal etc etc).

The forecast has definitely changed. The cold front they were expecting on Thursday night is coming in Friday now. There will still be a weaker front coming in the late afternoon, which will make the ground wet. However the wind is predicted to be up, which 1) could help dry the deck out more quickly 2) would add a different challenge to the game in goal kicking and general kicking accuracy.

Pity the AFL are so tight that, like the score review system, they won’t expend a few dollars to provide roaming mikes to the questioners at these press conferences.  I guess directors’ bonuses and overseas junkets are a higher priority.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
