Which is exactly what should happen. They scheduled 5 potential finals teams on a Sunday for round 24 to maximize viewership. That’s on them.

Play 3 games on Saturday or one on Sunday. I don’t care. You cannot possibly disadvantage a side with 11 days turnaround and have a 12 day concussion protocols.

I believe in 2021 we did have a game on Sunday, 3.20 pm

It was when both EF were played down in Tasmania.

Nah we played on a Saturday night at Adelaide oval.

Why TF are final played on thursday nights to begin with!?

it’s a work night with work in the morning. i know the afl get some extra tv money but it should be one game friday, 2 on Sat and one Sun arvo

Sunday arvo is a huge ratings slot so i really don’t get this thursday nonsense

Sunday means that whoever plays there will potentially have a short turnaround for the following week.

Have I missed the point here?  The top 4 teams that loose in the first week, will end up with a longer break for the games the following weekend, which is the shorter turn around.  Given the first week has a bye isn’t that better for the top 4 teams than getting the shorter turn around first?

11 days is heaven for Dees players. We're the only club that doesnt get a mid season bye (9 days).Geelong get 13- 15 days.

12 is perfect. Dont care if the Colly Wobbles get an extra 2 days on us.  But why on a Thursday.

Gil is so dumb he probably didnt realise that Sun to Thur week is 11 days 1 short for concussion break.

He would of heard Hodge  blasting away about it on radio.

It could create controversy= arousal for Gil and the Dills

Yeah and that’s why Brisbane should have the Thursday night game and not the Collingwood v Melbourne one

couldn’t they arrange it so the teams that could potentially play the next friday do not play the sunday game?

i may not be the smartest fella but i think it’s possible. then it’s only the difference of a 6 or 7 day break

what did they do before the pre finals bye? 3 Sat games?

If we get a concussion today then we should be protesting very loudly about playing on the thursday night.

The Hun is reporting that if we do play Toothless ferals it will be on Friday night!

So in other words, the journos such as Jon Ralph and Mark Robinson’s crew have no idea when the game will be played, and we should wait until later tonight’s announcement before we chuck a tanty.

I recall Drew Jones on Fox Sports was so adamant that todays Dees V Swans game was originally going to be scheduled Saturday 7:25 that he was willing to bet his AFL media accreditation  on it.

You guys think playing Thursday night is bad?
Wait until Ticketek crashes on Tuesday morning.

Ralph just now saying finals schedule pretty much set in stone. Coll Thursday night, Carlton most likely Friday night, Saturday will include a day game and a twilight game so those teams that play on Saturday can be back in their beds by that night to ensure full 7 days recovery.

For Collingwood members they will.

I am guessing Dees members will be on Wednesday.

I thought both club members tickets go on sale at the same time?

Just a guess, I think it was the Tuesday of bye week last year.

Thursday night is a FU to all families with kids. AFL know it means alot won't be able to make it but don't give a flying F. They'll fill the G and it'll rate of the charts either way

I hate attending Thursday night games. I'm always wrecked the next day at work

Same. I’m lucky my boss is a Melbourne supporter 😂

The shorter turnarounds should be for those who didn’t make the top 4

Absolutely.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
