This week and next I'll be barracking for whatever combination of results see Carlton tipped out of the 8.

They need to lose both games and Adelaide and GWS to win both games?

Is there a scenario Carlton can miss the 8?

Yes, they need to lose both games of course. Then 2 or 3 teams to win both remaining games.

I’m worried about how flat Carlton are. Last week was a very hard game. I hope we don’t come out this flat.

It won't make a difference if Carlton lose. Although a win for Gawn would be good.

A young team travelling after being up for two months is different than us on our home ground with two running changes. Plus we're fitter.

Yes.

They have to lose twice. Then requires some results to be precise because the chasing pack play each other a bit. Easiest option is for GWS to beat Essendon, St Kilda to win once, Dogs to win both games (ie beat Geelong next week), and then Sydney wins twice or wins once but makes up the percentage (about 5%).

How good to see Carlton go down.

Gf eligibility out the window.

We were 33 down to North two weeks ago.

Don’t count chickens etc etc.

I'm counting because we were robbed.

True but that was North. Gold Coast is miles ahead and made Brisbane look second rate three weeks ago.

Carlton's grand final was last week.

Logically, yes.

I’ll still wait a bit longer before I feel like they aren’t capable of pulling it back.

Adelaide can't overtake them ED14. All it might take is for St Kilda & Sydney to win one and GWS to win both, one of which is against Carlton. Then they could get tipped out on %.

Suns using the ball really well. working the ball into their f50 with ease

Looking to work it through the corridor by hand and foot wherever possible.

Contesting hard when they need to but also taking the gane on once they win the ball.

Great footy to watch

Choll, Whitts, Rowell, Miller & Flanders all very  good so far

Gold Coast is 90 levels above North. You literally cannot compare these two sides.

Nah, back out, but sub was warming up....

Soft frees galore for Carlton. Almost as if HQ gave the directive.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
