My guess is Petty is out for the season. His ankle buckled inward, nasty.

Goodwin confirmed that it wasn't a short-term injury so ...

In a game of inches, there goes the chance at a flag?

Not at all, you shift and adapt. Grundy gets his moment and Tomlinson goes back? Let’s see who we play against Carlton

Why pray tell.

Dees players will be fired up especially with Oliver and Fritsch possibly returning very soon.

Relax . have a glass of milk.

You can only adapt if you have the pieces. On admittedly limited evidence, Petty is head and shoulders above the alternatives.

Been Radio silence in Fritsch I'm not positive he'll make it back hope I'm wrong

I’d have Fritsch as a finals inclusion.

Petty is averaging less than a goal a game and has already missed 6 games this year. It's a big loss but we can recover.

But he was averaging 4 goals a game the past 2 weeks. His recent form was promising.

I agree it’s not the end of the world. He only returned last week and we won 3 straight without him, including Brisbane and Adelaide.

Petty big loss, we just don't have someone else with his size and mongrel to attack it and kick goals.

JVR is now our main target which is a worry as much as I love what he has done this year. Maybe brown back he did give us a nice structure and takes a key back. the forward line was functioning relatively well in the few weeks before the petty party last week.

Read the updates from @WalkingCivilWar

Eyeing a round 24 return if there are no setbacks.

Grundy to 60% ruck and Gawn to a Tom McDonald CHF role.

The great thing is that we are getting goals from the small forwards.

I have zero confidence in Smith as a full game goal contributing forward... sub is his role

So let me get this straight. Grundy has sucked as forward for us this year & he did nothing in the VFL last week & you want to swap him for Petty ?

Smith to go forward & Tomo to go back to CHF.

The entire MFC and NMFC are in the food lounge in Hobart.  AMA except I'm chicken sh** and will not be saying hello to anyone

Happy Jonah Hill GIF

(Andy if you can edit this to add that Jonah Hill freaking out gif, much appreciated since I can't get my internet to work 😂)

Even if Clarry’s not ready please get Harmes out of our side.

I suggest we may see the Grundy forward experiment.

In Oliver Grundy

Out Harmes Petty

Yep I think so, however could we be tempted to play Brown in Pettys place?

Go ask Petty how he’s feeling and tell Zeibel he’s been a royal pain in our behind for the 90 years he’s played and good riddance.

How does it work then if all contenders lose key players?

Daicos is much more important to us than petty.

We have our leading goal scorer for the last few years in fritter to come back in.

And for good measure we have bb and Grundy in reserve and tmac one week away from returning from injury.

To replace daicos, the pies have, check notes, no one. And Murphy might be back for finals, but still a big loss

And the lions haven't looked thesame side since Ashcroft went out. And he's not coming back.

We can cover petty. Doesn't move the dial much.

@Jaded No More surprisingly cannot see Petty! But also they're lining up for the flight behind where I am standing so that might explain it

Terrible photo incoming when I get my internet to work

Edit: Grundy is sitting with a North player and there are a few trainers kicking around.  Spargo also chatting with a friend rather than lining up

Gawn is monstering the ruck and you want to newt him? I just can’t understand why anyone would do that.

So they're both coming back on the same flight.

Go up to max and ask what the hell happened in that first quarter. He's pretty approachable. then ask goody if he sprayed them at quarter time

Tell Goldstein to retire. He's a pain

Grundy is a more than adequate ruck replacement but he's useless as a forward.

Play to your overall strengths not necessarily individual strengths.

Would you prefer Schache or Smith up forward... the cupboard is bare

Sorry, saw this too late!  They've all just left now.  I did shake hands with Grundy and told him to keep on keeping on!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
