Great chart D.I.O.

I do tend to get outraged as to how this club seems to be habitually shafted in both men’s and women’s fixtures. Luckily though the AFL can’t predict what teams will go backwards and what others will stagnate.
That draw shouldn’t end up being as difficult as it initially looks.

Apparently we also go interstate more than most Victorian teams too, but that’s almost a good thing as the team seem to travel well together.
I am really forward to this season

Gotta love the AFL: Gather Round 2024 is sorted nine months out but still won’t reveal the times and dates for the last H&A round this year, which begins in less than four weeks. 🙄

Last week we were told the announcement of such would be made on Sunday just gone. But because of the unexpected number of upsets on the weekend, they’re scrambling to come up with a round 24 fixture that will maximise TV viewing. I’m paraphrasing but that’s in essence what they’ve said. The cheek!

We all know it’s the TV audience numbers that dictates these things but ffs there’s still many of us who attend matches and they’re not making things easy. Flights and accommodation are so expensive as it is but when you have to go interstate earlier and/or stay there longer so as to cover all possible game times it’s all the more difficult to afford.

I’m often asked if the Club pay for some/all of our costs and the answer is no, they don’t. We choose to go. *We even use our luggage allowance to take all our gear. Our Club is so supportive of us but no one expects them to pay for us to attend interstate matches.

*just a little brag… MFC boasts the highest rate of cheer squad interstate travelling, that’s in terms of numbers of members as well as frequency. We’re almost as full when interstate as we are at home.

*puts trumpet down*

Anyways, whinge sesh done and dusted. 😉

Haha don't worry, late fixture release complaints are the lifeblood of any AFLW chat 😆

My first ever AFLW match that I’ll see in person will be the Rnd 10 Brisbane game. Two questions

Does anyone know when they will announce the actual date it will be played?

Is anyone else going? I would love to meet up with any other Demonlanders before, during or after the game.

Still no idea of day or time. It won’t be the Thursday night since both teams play on the Saturday of the previous round and that would mean a 5-day break. So it’ll be on the Fri, Sat or Sun. We’re being told we’ll know the time and date after round seven. As soon as we’re told, I’ll post it here.

I’m almost certain to be going, the only thing causing doubt is the cost of flights. It’s on Melb Cup weekend so we can expect a hike in airfares, how big a hike we don’t yet know. I’m also hoping to FIFO same day.

Hope to meet you at the match!!!

You'll be flying in the other direction. That could mean some cheaper 'backloading' flights?

Although, yes, the long long weekend may generate escapees...

Thanks WCW. I love this section of Demonland, it is so blumin collegial. Although it probably doesn’t hurt that our girls are so dominant 🤣🤣

I’m happy to park myself here for the time being. It’s a haven amongst the other depressing threads. 😩

But our girls are definitely on song. Tough assignment this Saturday vs the Crows, the only other unbeaten side, but I’m confident we’ll get the job done. The cherry on top would be to not break our record of holding the opposition goalless for the last quarter in the last 14 matches. But that may be asking for too much. 🤭

I just automatically thought interstate footy match + long weekend = jacked up airfare. I guess it’s force of habit since this is always the case with the men’s. I do hope it’s the case that the flights are reasonably affordable. When it’s a 10-round season (thanks a bunch, AFL!) I don’t wanna miss attending.

🐘 in the room, and as if you didn't have enough MFCSS fuel: the women are now playing the home-and-away part of Season 8 for this $1 million.

Like I said on this week's game thread, serious football.

With 4 rounds to go, Melbourne leads on 108 points, half a game ahead of Collingwood and Brisbane on 104 points and one-and-a-half games ahead of Adelaide on 96 (women's matches are worth 8 points cf 4 for the men's). Carlton is the only other contender; it will reach 118 points if it wins its 4 games, vs 7th, 11th, 12th and 16th.

Melbourne plays 3rd and 20th at home and 4th and 17th away.

Collingwood plays 8th and 9th at home and 6th and 13th away.

Brisbane plays 1st and 2nd at home and 5th and 11th away.

Adelaide plays 3rd and 18th at home and 4th and 17th away.

Collingwood. Ugh.

2nd and 13th, Tim. North beat Freo by 45 points and kept them to 3.3.21 and are now above us on percentage.

If both Melbourne and Brisbane keep winning, that last round match between us could be playing for a $1 million.

The lions have regressed. Beaten at home by Richmond and the pies. North should have beaten them as well, (north coughed up a big lead against them). The crows will be odds on to beat as well.

Can’t see the lions beating us.

Hopefully Saturday's performance was something we had to get out of our system. The games against North and Brisbane are massive in the context of this season, and the $1M prize money.

Collingwood's draw has been extraordinarily easy this year, dodging all of Adelaide, Brisbane and North. Thankfully they are not a great team, but they could win their last four games. Who knows what to make of Brisbane - they are probably a little behind the best teams, but are capable on their day. Adelaide could well win their last four, especially with a home game against North.

THE GRAND Final rematch between Brisbane and Melbourne will take place on the Saturday night of round 10, with dates and times now locked in for Pride Round.

The Lions and Dees will lock horns in a clash that could decide the order of the top four - and the winner of the $1 million prize for the McClelland Trophy - at Brighton Homes Arena at 6.05pm AEST

We have the game to win the lot.

No need to fear the Crows. Lions showed how to beat them. Match them on the inside and burn them on the onside.

Lions in Rd 10 will be a tough one. If we have Tayla back we're favourites. Zanker and Tayla a formidable double act. Lions do not have the same firepower. I hope Tayla's injury heals and she's fully fit for the business end of the season. she is crucial for us.

it's clear we are the top three sides in the competition this season

crows played us off the park for two quarters at our home ground - they'll be tough to beat in finals

i think bears are a bit the same, and that's why the final home game of the season is so, so important

i WANT that mclelland trophy

Crows will be tough for sure but remember we had the better of them for 2 quarters as well. Once we match them on the inside, not easy i know, we have their measure.

My preference is to win the flag. To put us in the best position to do that we need to beat the Lions and i think we're better than them. Wardlaw was a big loss for them. they are not finishing their good work whereas we have Zanker (having a career best year i reckon) and Tayla. Not to mention Kate Hore.

I'm confident we'll win McClelland cup AND the flag.

Go Dees.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
