Luke Darcy's blatant bias towards St. Kilda on Saturday night was odious. Even though he is a Bulldogs man.

But in the end, I don't care too much as Melbourne got the win.

I think the issue is besides Garry Lyon, we don't really have many TV commentators who are Melbourne aligned.

I have faith in the new online generation of commentators though.

Particularly this guy (shown below) by the name of Caden MacDonald who is a passionate Demons supporter and is starting to develop a bit of a following on YouTube.

Good luck to the young fella! 😎👍🏻

Garry Lyon bags us more than anyone

The worst commentary I heard was some media person (I can’t remember who) talking up Essendon and saying how close they got to Port and the Pies.  We beat the pies and lost to port by a few points in Adelaide FFS

Has Chunk been on any of our games yet?

He’s done a few, including our match against GWS recently. He’s decent on commentary, but depending on who he’s with he can get sucked into the typical boys club wind up and lose focus.

Mute telly.... i do..

Find generic stadium cheering on YouTube..play low.... just to fill in the voud if like...

I just listen with mute

way too much like the canned applause that we suffered through covid.

Was not a fan... but I understand your thought process

Perhaps on Friday night I should just put Take me Home Country Road on perpetual repeat... now that would be torture

True he does.

But he has explained that he does that from a position of love because he has high expectations for the Melbourne Football Club. At least I remember him saying something along those lines after we won the 2021 AFL Premiership.

Additionally, I forgot to mention we have former Demons Captains Daisy Pearce (AFLW) and Nathan Jones (AFL) doing special comments too. They both have been pretty good.

Failed coach Buckley has gone down several cogs in my book.

Its the worse lot of miserable naysayers I’ve ever seen in my football supporting life.

Its not footy classified it’s Funeral classified.

I can’t stomach most of them , and only really watch the front bar and a bit of the Sunday footy show these days as anything else is just click bait and unbearable doom and gloom.

Front Bar is OK, I like sam and his quick wit, however it seems they drag out an old calton player every week.

Not sure I agree with that, he bagged us when we were horrible and had no expectation.

I think Jones and Daisy are fantastic

Sam Pang makes the show. Both Sam and Andrew Maher are Carlton supporters so that is why old Blues players get rotation.

For those that disparage Damian Barrett's media work, DO NOT watch one of his most recent video on afl.com.au with Lloydy where he claims Adelaide should be sitting above MFC on the ladder and that Adelaide threw the game away. Seriously how is this guy relevant in AFL commentary - fair enough he may get the scoop on board room and footy dept politics, but he has no business or credibility in discussing actual football.

David King had Freo in his top 4 ranking after they beat us. This was when I decided to stop listening to the media “analysis”, as it’s literally just a bunch of wanna be footballers with absolutely no idea about the modern game.

I will say this, Adelaide is, in every really important stat, a better side than any of the teams currently sitting 5-12 on the ladder.

don't agree on that - both geelong and gw$ would give the crom a run for their money in that regard

Crows are well ahead of Geelong and GWS in contested possessions, clearances, scores, inside 50 efficiency, contested marks, and speed in both attack and defense.
In fact they’re in the top 4 for many of those stats.

Geelong at ****ehole Park are a different proposition. But head to head at the MCG or in AO I reckon Crows would have their measure, especially with how they attack at speed.

I'm starting to think it's because they mark us hardest after what we delivered in 21, and for 10 games in 22... we are almost seen as the benchmark for alot of sides.

Collingwobbles ain't won nothing yet...

In saying this it still is frustrating to listen to

I watched this on my lunch break today and nearly spat out my coffee.

Barrett and Lloyd could not give the demons any less credit for their win.

I don't mind going under the radar, but the blatant disrespect is getting a bit tiresome.

I’ve completely switched off most footy media now except for the front bar.

Anything with David King, Kane Cornes, Robbo, Whateley, Buckley is instant switch stations for me and I’m loving the peace of mind.

David King wrote Geelong off completely early in the season...then he got back on board, now who knows.

They were all writing the Tiges on...now saying no chance of a flag.

It's the entertainment business any relation to serious analysis is only in passing.

Imagine the media fawning if any of Brisbane, Port or Pies were missing Neale, Butters or Daicos for 3 months and went on to beat 2 of the other top 3 sides, and went down by 4 points at home to the other.

But when Melbourne do it without Oliver they’re lucky and very ordinary. Pies are never lucky when they win, they’re just amazing. But Melbourne? Pure luck.

Media Bias, What Can We Do? 🤷‍♂️ (meh)

Suggestion of a slight tweak to the title...

To be fair, Freo had just won something like 3 or 4 in a row (including the Cats) and were playing really good footy. Since Darcy’s injury they haven’t been the same.

What grinds my gears more is the whole “Collingwood were rife with illness”narrative around our win against them. Kingy mentioned it today when saying how the MCG was a fortress to Collingwood and he had to use an excuse for them losing to us.

Freo were NEVER at any stage of this season, or in fact last season, any better than us. In anything. Except for stuffing up trades 😂

It was a pathetic reactionary call from a reactionary commentator who flips and flops more than a dying fish.

I agree that they weren’t above us, but I could see where he was coming from after we had just lost two in a row. Goodwin even lauded Freo as a team on the rise in his post match presser after that game.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
