Choco Williams needs to get stuck into the kicking training again. Our accuracy has been horrible the last 5 matches and is basically the difference now.

Jesus, you'd think GWS would think they're a legit chance.

IN: Brown, Tomlinson, Oliver, Woewodin
OUT: Smith, Petty, Jordon, ANB

Isn’t every one just thrilled that we gave up a home game to travel interstate?

Geelong got momentum from their crowd and played to their strengths at home. We gave this game up.

I absolutely hate it. Melbourne homes games at the G only. If we want to be taken seriously start acting that way.

We aren’t dropping our best forward from tonight, Champ.

In: Brown, Bowey, Tomlinson, Oliver (worth a punt), Harmes (sub)

Out: Chandler, Spargo, Jordon, Petty

Whatever we do, can we actually have a tactical sub that can impact the game with some power. Harmes (who I'm not a massive fan of) would've been a better choice tonight given the conditions.

Smith sucks people in, he's a flashy play or two a game, but can't play footy

Re Joel Smith-I wasn't sucked in AD. I saw the excellent work he did in the first half with his marks, contesting, knocking on, handballs when the rest of the. team was struggling. He actually showed leadership with his efforts. He was quieter in the second half but one of our better players overall who contested hard all night and was effective. In my view he is a very important player for us.

We can bring it back to Melbourne but it will end up at Marvel. We won't get another game at the G

Yeh not a fan of a small forward being the sub.

In: Oliver, Tomlinson, Brown

Out: Jordan, Petty, Chandler

Angus, Lingers, Kozzy all had bad games and have been off their best, lingers in particular for a while.

So tired of us picking blokes on reputation over an actual performance given to the coaches, dropping Tomlinson has proved to be an absolute shocker as most of us thought it was. For Petty to stroll back in and serve that up was horrendous.

Fine by me. There will be 25,000 Melbourne supporters there, who can give our boys some momentum and belief.

They aren’t getting that playing in front of 5,000 impartial footy fans in Port and Adelaide jumpers in Alice.

Because the Saints want one more? 🙄

Hopefully Brown has a good run for Casey this week. Would like to see him back in asap, would help the small forwards as well.

He has to be dropped. Absolutely a liability. May pressure well but useless when has the ball.

Tomlinson back into defense. Petty forward.

JJ out.  Bowey in.

Spargo not the sub.

Hibbo to play on Greene.

Do we need to give Gawn a week off? He seems cooked.

I assume Clarry won’t play. Obviously if fit he is in for literally anyone that isn’t Viney as I would kill for another player with clean ball handling skills in the contest.

Not sure who goes in and out as we never make a lot of changes.

I'd look to bring Oliver and Bowey in. Would like a proper key forward in as well, Brown being the most likely candidate but not sure how likely that would be.

Jordon, Spargo and Chandler all in danger of being dropped while Hibberd may need further resting and Petty looks underdone.

Will probably end up being Oliver in, Jordon out.

Brown in and forward, Petty back to Casey to be replaced by Tomlinson (should never have been dropped in the first place).

Brown needs to prove himself at Casey. He’s banged up and immobile. He doesn’t solve our issues IMO.

TMac is who we desperately miss. A tall who can play higher up and take contested marks. We’ve looked awful up forward ever since he stuffed his foot in 2022.

This is a role Petty can play well and it’s what they tried to get Smith to do.

Fine theory, but this game would be played at Docklands not the G, and would cost the club $500k and mean we needed to find a new sponsor rather than the NT govt

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
