But it’s different when you’re the grandparent right? Aren’t kids generally well-behaved with grandparents despite being little [censored] at home?

The reason grand parents and grandchildren get on so well is they have a common enemy!

Quick power workout done and now to swing to the sweet sounds of risk management.

Petty, we’ve experimented with different set ups but ultimately 2 talls plus Lever works for reasons already discussed on here, and as good as Thommo was two weeks ago, Petty is a gun. I like the look of the fwd line as inexperienced as our two keys talls are (having Grundy / Gawn rotate through the fwd line allows us to do this). There’s a feeling of youth and excitement about it but ultimately what I like is we’re back to being mobile again. We have a great mix of players with Chandler taking his chances and Kosi who is well over due for a big one. Then there’s Fritsch who is possibly one of the most underrated players in the game. (I base this on his inability to get picked in an AA team, a team that I keep telling myself each year I care less about). Out of all of our learnings the quick mobile fwd line is the biggest so far.

Love you comment on Fritsch. I comfort myself on his 6 goals in a gf and personally was key to saving us in 3rd quarter. Plus he has a medal.

The AA does suck. Bit like the brownlow. Fairest and best midfielder only.

Good time Charlie as the sub is what I expected.

Could be some interesting moves made by Goodwin this evening and it will, of course depend on the circumstances of the game.

Petty could play forward or back and will be effective at both ends of the ground as required.

Something from left field I would like to see is Smith given a center bounce as an attending mid. might be something that would throw the cats.

Just made a mercy dash to the Romsey IGA to pick up a couple of "just in case" bottles of Shiraz.

I couldn't resist a quaffer called "squealing pig " - I figured it might be appropriate to a post game Chris Scott.

Just listened to Goody on Fox.

He said Oliver had a bit of hamstring tightness ... and added that ... any other suggestions are incorrect

So he's not on that Sub.

Umpire #22. Lovely. He's horrible.

Bloody freezing here in Sydney. Will be watching from a warm bed.

My daughter sent me a text last night. Coldest June day in Sydney in 15 years. I'm part of a Kirribilli Walking Group that meets Thursday mornings at 7. A little bit brisk today 😀

Sorry, unfortunately my model flipped to Geelong by 1.2 points following team announcements! It will update again once subs are announced.

@WheeloRatings You're now predicting a 2 point loss. We need to get this game happening before it gets any worse!

Looks like @binman was on the money. Charlie wasn't dropped. He's just having his load managed. I have mixed feelings. I would love to have seen Taj playing, but wouldn't like to have him debuting as sub.

Geelong is known for late changes so it could still change again!

This is a big game. Win and we are a game clear of the pack and well on our way to top 4.

Lose and we are back with the pack looking over our shoulder each week.

Form says we should win but we cannot afford to repeat our inaccuracy of the English King's Birthday.

Dees by 22 !!

What’s the bet we get smashed by the umpires tonight?

Well we are 3rd worst for Goals from frees and against and the stat for our frees generally has dropped the last 4-6 games.

We are also playing at Kitty Litter stadium, dominated by kitty fans, so it is pretty obvious what will happen.

Mitch Cleary just tweeted that we won tonight’s game by 6 goals and then deleted it two minutes later…

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
