Jordan.  Keep him in.

He is way ahead of Spargo, but behind and in front of the ball.  A greet kick and has grunt.  If we keep dropping him, we will lose him.

Think you are generous with the B grade. Regular six possession games don't cut it...

Pickett is leading the league for tackles inside 50. We have no idea what they’re asking him to do, low possessions by a half forward doesn’t mean squat. Yes, he should be nailing those set shots though.

He is a much better player than just someone that lays tackles...He can do it all, but at the moment is doing very little.

He's close to one of the most overrated players in the league. He does the impossible once every 10 games and somehow this results in this totally mythical perception of him. He's done nothing to suggest he was worthy of being a first round draft pick.

You can pick up a player that has his output with shrewd drafting in the rookie draft.

Totally disagree on JVR. He was very good. Rarely lost an aerial contest and nailed the most crucial kick for goal of the match. He is a baby. This was a very good game from him playing near and sometimes on one of the best FBs in the game.

2 years kicking 40 plus goals for a small forward is outstanding. imo he’s a star in a bad patch.

Lose him to who?

He will walk.  We will lose him to another club.  JJ still has currency and whoever picks him up, will get a good player, to our cost, if that happens.  In my view, he is way ahead of Spargo and far more versatile.

joeboy a great team performance! Goody V Flea? Our system prevailed despite the yipes.

Chocko - do your magic.

RECRUIT OF THE YEAR

Since he signed on thinks he has to take moy every time the ball comes in high... and constantly burns players in better positions when i50. Just need to go back to basics of a crumber,  stay front and centre and apply pressure

Thought Goodwin out coached Craig McRae today which was good to see, hope to see it more often, we'll done.

Agree

someone needs to have a frank  and personal chat to Kossie on what ability he has and how he  is going about it using that ability.

In round terms he has one more chance and faces dropping after the Cats game if he can't get more disposals and affect the game with goals tackles and run and carry plus some crumbing in front and square and also behind the pack. And NO MORE flying for impossible marks ( unrealistic in fact) until he regains his form and composure.

That we got a win and really humbled the Pies ( who were poor and off their game)  much due to our 2021 style defence. And in fact that really Kossie  and Trac were with JVR our poorest players ( no not trying they did try) with all others contributing all the attributes we ask if our players to be a flag contender. I was so proud of them today as they really put Freo and Port behind them and given some normal front of goal conversion would have embarrassed them no end.

And we supported their efforts against a very lack lustre Pies fan base who seemed almost bored and assumed the Pies would wipe out their deficit any moment they chose.
But it didn't happen and no way did they deserve to be any where near us than over 5/6 goals.

We take the four points and agsin must display the same great character at the Cattery in 10 days time, along with some accuracy traits.

We are  back to our eyeballs with defence and mids gaining confidence with Clarry to put some icing Into this very fruity cake as long as we get some forward connectivity and confidence.

Now Maysie Rick Salo Fritta and Gawny are back in form Trac had a mulligan and Kossie needs to find his best. Petty due back soon and Smithy if not suspended showed some  ability  that he may develop also to contribute a valuable role to that forward mix.

Time to keep the momentum going and use our 2021 as the bench mark to improve and kick scurry to ensure no costly lapses.

I really believe we can get a double chance and gain a home finals run if we take this next step. No doubt today was the best game all season with most systems firing and in the biggest challenge of the year from the best team and exposure to pressure from the crowd and the Pies ability to invest in and outrun us being  chopped off beautifully nearly all day.

I don’t think that comparing him to Spargo is equitable, based on their respective roles

He’s an ok player - not quick, not great below his knees, but he’s a nice kick

JJ had a real impact when he came on in the middle, really hope we can find a spot for him as a starting 22

Has 10 years of solid footy in front of him

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
