We have only Salem who's best 22 to come back into our team whilst they have Adams, Murphy, Lipinski, Howe, Cameron and McStay.

We have a bit of work on our forward half yet plus our defence is not ticking along at all.

So we have time to sort it and we're nicely placed.

Of their missing players, most are not going to be a big upgrade except for Howe and there is no guarantee he makes it back.

They bat pretty deep with players that fit their game style.

Adams and Merritt cancelled each other out today although I think Merritt was a bigger loss as EFC have skill deficiencies all around the ground.

Losing Laverde during the game also hurt EFC.

September is a long way off.

If we make top 4 we will be hard to beat this year but as I say, it's a long way off.

He's actually drawing attention to himself by drawing attention to sideline signals.

If a sideline signal is a picture of BT, it means 'Start wasting time'.

This time of season is about banking wins. Nothing more. Who cares how scared some of you are of the Pies.

So come king's birthday if we are both top 4 teams do you reckon we could get more than last night?

It's also a special day for neale obviously as well

you can play fully uncontested footy for so long.

Gary Ablett jnr made a career out of it at Gold Coast.

Yup.

Port tried to tag him, (the port bloke didn’t do a great job) and what it showed is Daicos is QUICK from a standing start. Goes from 0-100 in a couple steps.

Whoever tags him needs to wear him like a glove and be physical.

Even then, he only needs 10 minutes and  he can take the game away from you. Unreal player.

The best player on our list for this is Brayshaw, not Harmes.  Whenever the FD gives him a role his football brain works it out. He completely nullified Stringer.   Daicos is quick but he doesnt get 40 touches and goals cause he is a physical speciman.  Brayshaw will cut down angles and nullify his influence.

FFS WCW will  you stop using that dreadful American import "word"!

It looks ugly and sounds uglier - although I doubt I could utter it without vomitting.

I don't think I've even heard the maniacal "serpent catchers" on that fascinating Fox programme about "Swamp people" use it.

The insidious undermining of Aussie English by septic tank slang is driving me bonkers. I'm about to spit the [censored] dummy.

lol. he is 3rd in the all time list for 25+ contested touches games

Gary got his own ball

Nick might do it in the future but right now he is HB flanker with amazing skills, not a brownlow winner

Already happens.

the Pies did it with Treloar and Grundy? both desperately wanted to stay and on 5 year deals

Did it, they had a say where they wanted to go though which is the extension of it.

for sure. the club choose to trade a player without consent. then the player should have a say in where they play obviously

Daicos could literally walk away from Brayshaw

Other teams up the top of the ladder like Collingwood and St Kilda have already put all of their cards on the table. We haven't. We are experimenting and will continue to do so until the 2nd half of the season. We have more upside than these other contenders. Still confident we will ultimately be the team to beat.

Smart players work it out. Gus is a competitor.   Daicos doesnt win 40 touches cause he's fast. He's smart and knows where and when to run to collect easy kicks.

I like the confidence! I only mention his speed (not saying he’s a sprinter, saying he creates space between himself and others quickly from standing position) because the port tag was so loose. You’re either all over him, or you just persist letting him do his thing. It’s like tagging Pendlebury, you can do it, but he’ll use every inch to his advantage. So if you’re going to do it, it’s all in or you don’t bother.

I love Swamp People!
Who doesn’t love Troy “Choot ‘em” Landry?! Louisiana Cajun on his quest to find a “honey-hole.” Talks like he has a mouthful of cotton wool and needs subtitles despite speaking English.

Dagnabbit BBO, pick another example of insidious septic yank-ism!

That would be absolutely fascinating.

Kozzie would have him covered for speed and agility without question. Would be a very brave move as you would have to sacrifice Kozzy to just being locked to Daicos.

Could be genius or madness!

No idea, Willmoy. I do luvs me a guessing game though. Which mate of John Wayne’s said it? Also, is Gabby part of the word/phrase?

Cannot agree. Saints have so many injured their efforts so far have been surprising. It might be that their wins are about their system and personnel matters less, but if I were a Saints fan I’d be upbeat, surprised and looking forward to the rest of the season (for the first time in a loooong time.

aints are the best defensive side in the competition - conceded 100 less points than the next best, geelong, and their points for is pretty solid too, coming in mid table

fwiw we are 2nd for points scored (2 less than the cats) and 6th for points against

in terms of points differential we're third with +143 behind puddy tatts (+173) and aints (+153)

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
