i was actually referring to a well known satirical piece (bigfooty iirc) about a day with the grog squad where shazza (iirc) was the fearsome head honcho. very politically incorrect

some other poster might remember a link?

Yeah.  It was one of Biffinators unofficial previews.  He wrote some funny stuff and had a particular knack of getting under the skin of Tiger fans.  I think he had one of their irate responses as his signature

Hahaha I saw that, couldn’t believe it.  Must’ve been 41 of the most useless posies eve

I’d take Oliver’s 41 useless possessions over Tim Taranto’s 31 turnovers

Yes 100% DC

Fists of Fury was a great video game in the 90's.

Now Fists of Fury is a great defender… and he’s all ours. Can’t wait to see him put those fists to work on Monday!

I don’t even know who Miller is. Honestly they’re rubbish in 2023 and I’ll be severely disappointed if we lost to them.

Those on twitter will know that Richmond have some of the most arrogant supporters. They would need to win the wooden spoon for them to accept that their dynasty is over.

I had to look him up after reading his name in this thread.

He is Richmond's 23 year old regular vfl ruckman. Pick 63 in the 2017 draft 1.98m and has played 14 games of AFL.

Edit: He is 6-3-5 in those 14 games.

Has played in 3 draws in 14 games, incredible stat.

Some years ago I was having a drink at a bar in The Castro district of San Francisco . Interesting place.

I'm relieved the merits of  "Fists of Fury" didn't come up in the  discussion.

I'm still reluctant to call then rubbish or write them off.

At the end if the day they still have some quality premiership players still playing and on their day they can still win the tough game.

And knowing our form, I'm not entirely sure I have full trust in our squad that we can just win the games we're suppose too. Gotta respect the competition and each team we come up again. Especially now after the Essendon loss.

Actually thought this would be the year where you'd feel pretty comfortable knowing you'd rock up each week and just bank in the ala Iike the Geelong of 2008/2009.

Me too. I was thinking Brad Miller retired ages ago?

Surprised to see Cotchin is still playing this year. I assumed he retired already… his numbers and impact back this up!

I don't watch much of him, but the number of dog acts he pulls has increased.

Yep. Big Shazza. May have been promoted to Queen Shazza in later instalments

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
