Reasonable changes but TMac must be on his last chance

Also just noticed Harmes didn't get named on the extended bench. His game for Casey was very solid and perhaps he could have taken Spargo's spot.

Dunstan being named is interesting

It  be is going to be interesting to see who of the emergencies or extended bench makes the cut.
one of Bowey, Jordon Sparrow , or Hibberd

will miss. Don’t think Grundy will miss.

Laurie , Turner and Dunstan I think will miss

For any Dlanders who haven't gotten to this game before....to quote Molly, do yourself a favour and get there.

It's a great atmosphere and hopefully the team also redeems itself.

Will make an effort next year.

Just don't pull your pants down like Molly...

I wondering if the 5 day turnaround (vs 6 for Casey to AFL) is playing a part in selection?
Brown, Schache and Harmes (8 coaches votes in the VFL last week, Laurie got 10) are almost on standby to come in and be 'fresher' than those with a 5 day break, especially if their VFL game time is limited/managed.

He's simply not best 22 anymore and hasn't been since last year.

Unfortunately when he's not tagging he's a limited footballer.

Would rather invest more time into the likes of Jordon and Laurie.

Think you'll find a fair chunk of them aren't as one eyed as most of the other big clubs.

They went through three decades of pain similar to what we went through.

They also had their own version of MFCSS which i witnessed first hand prior to their drought breaking premiership in 2017.

One of my best mates is a ferral Tiger and he just calls things as he sees it .... no BS and respects the oppo / loves the game & the mighty Demons are his second team.

There is the grog squad of course (assuming Shazza and them are still going)... but that's a diff kettle of stinky fish altogether 🤪

I know, DD. Besides, they’re at ours to make a shared ANZAC banner so there was a real sense of unity. Yes, there were some rough looking folk tonight but there’s rough looking folk in every cheer squad except ours and they seemed quite nice.

I like Harmes but he's no walk up starter nor is he a straight back in player anymore. I just can't see where he fits in right now unless he can add some other string to his bow.

I've always found it interesting how the coaches tend to keep playing players who are out of form. But I kinda get it with TMac this week.

He can be a huge asset for us if he's firing. I guess they're just giving him another chance to turn things around. I guess either he or JVR could get dropped for a while when BBB comes back in.

I love the capabilities of all three. Hope they all fire up.

I’m wondering if Viney is under an injury cloud hence why they’ve named Dunstan

Could be a direct replacement for Sparrow who may potentially get dropped.

Seems unlikely. JJ would replace him in the 22 over Dunstan I’d say.

TMac holds his place and no spot for Schache on the extended bench

Will be interesting to see if Brown plays VFL

Of the 8 on the extended bench you can only guarantee Grundy and Hibberd as inclusions. Any of the remaining six could get the last two spots

I think they will play Schache against North. I can’t see Max playing again in 5 days after an injury recovery.

Gawn and Lever in for Tomlinson and Melksham.

Spargo either replaced by Jordon or, presumably, Laurie.

Surprised re Brown. Nothing in the club’s selection article to explain his situation. Assume he is fit but not picked. Which surprises me given TMac’a form.

He and Schache in for Max and Tom against Roos 5 days later.

McDonald keeping his spot is a surprise expect Brown is still injured and they have no faith in Schache.

Possible line up

B: Petty, May, Rivers

HB: McVee, Lever, Brayshaw

C: Langdon, Oliver, Hunter

HF: Chandler, McDonald, Neal-Bullen

F: Pickett, van Rooyen, Fritsch

FOLL: Gawn. Viney, Petracca

IC: Grundy, Hibberd, Bowey, Sparrow

SUB: Jordon

EMERG: Laurie, Dunstan, D.Turner

I would swap Sparrow and JJ.

I suspect Goody & the FD probably want to see Schache butter up on his performance at the hanger for a few weeks on the trot.

He has.

Not even a word as to why.

Not ready ?

The Champion Data guy  Hoyne, said Balta and serial holder Grimes were really poor this year for never neutralizing or bringing it to ground in a contest.

They either mark it or concede a mark/Free. Bodes well for our bigs to take a bagful of contested marks this week. Tommy to kick 5!

FMD Jaded, you're definitely a glass half empty gal when it comes to the MFC!

They're also terrible exiting their d50 this year. Need our smalls to make them pay and pressure hard

Disagree Red. If Max plays against Richmond, and gets through it ok, why wouldn't he play against norf ?

I do wish they wouldn’t name the team in such ridiculous positions - it is very annoying and totally pointless IMV.

I suspect TMac is in to give flexibility with Petty - I think TMac might go back and Petty forward. And if May was injured last week - he looks and played as if he was - that’s another reason to keep TMac in.

a question , can you get general admission on anzac eve  ?  cheers and go dees

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
