Maybe a chance if Miller needs a run at a lower level???

Maybe a chance if Miller needs a run at a lower level???

MIllsy does..i'm a big fan of his..but he needs 2-3 weeks of solid football at Sandy....

great news about newton, gets better each week, and can't wait til he makes his debut. Newts keep up the hard work and the results will come. Also great to see neaves in the best

Anyone know how spud and neville went in the reserves? and how garland and C.johnson went

Posted

I hope he gets a go next week. Our forward line needs another target, especially if they are going to play Dunn as a HFF.

Any word on how Chip went in the reserves?

If they don't replace Miller with Newton this week, there is something very very wrong.

Miller was a disgrace today, and needs to be shown the door from the seniors.

the demons need a target up forward. with neitz back, they have that target, however the team is not used to having him there and kept spoiling neitz's marks.

i think that they need to bring in Newton just to provide that second tall, as i think Dunn would be better used more on the centre half line.

miller was terrible today, did nothing to justify why he should be in the team. Needs a go in the two's. Newton has performed well and should be rewarded for his good work.

I agree that Miller was particularly ineffective today, but i think we're all being a little short sighted.

He's had a decent year, and if 1 bad game results in demotion, then everyone in our team should have been dropped at one stage or another.

Is Newton competing with Miller for a spot? I'm not convinced we can go in with a forward line of Neitz, Miller, Dunn and Newton.

Do I dare say that had Juice played at the MCG today then there's a possibility that his accurate kicking might have had an influence on the result?

Even some ordinary kicking would have been good. Set shots were 2.8 and there were a couple that missed the lot or didn't quite get there. I reckon Big Juice has earnt at least a nomination on the extended bench. With Harris taking Neitz, Newton could do well on the shorter Bulldog backs.

He's not competing with Miller. There's no comparison. Newton is a genuine forward whereas Miller is at best some sort of compromise. At 0-6 it's time to cut out the quibbling and look to the future.

good on Sandy, even with our depleted list they findd a way to win. Newton has to come in, take pressure of Neita as a leading forward. Neitz has to start playing like Alistar lYnch did towards the emd of his carrear, more body to body strength from the 25m- goal line. Newton to come in as the hard leading forward.

i heard he played a half down there...but if he played on kingsley or riewoldt he cant of done too well...

if newton doesnt get a run next week i'd be surprised. thats 11 goals in 2 weeks surely thats enough to justify a run in the senior side?

miller is unlucky i think. he had a poor first game but has come back strongly. rounds 2-4 were good. he was stuffed around last week by moving him to CHB but recovered alright. he doesnt kick enough goals when neitz is in the team. right now i think he is probably a long term prospect, post neitz. but he is unlucky terrible today, average last week just as neitz comes back from injury and juice hits some straps. the only problem with a straight swap is, is juice strong enough at CHF. dunn is a bit slight, a flanker size really. is playing newton alongside him there a risk?

does that mean he might get a chance next week?????

Not yet I think, he's only starting to develope & he needs to consolidate this form for some weeks I would say.

He's not going away anywhere, let him keep on growing his game... ;)

He's a true Melbourne defender if he let Kingsley rip him a new one ;)

we need to keep our forward 50 clear, we flood our own 50

I think your spot-on.

bring on juice!

you guys are shocking, miller had one bad game, he has been one of our only players this year that have tried, been our best forward in neitz and robbo's absence

just bring newton in and play him in the goal square with neitz, an apprenticeship for a month before robbo gets back, and let them compete

Davey Neitz Newton

Dunn Miller Sylvia

How did Jamar go today?

Good news with Neaves in the bests, but could be potentially diabolical for Jamar's career considering PJ probably showed more today than Jamar has for a long time...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
