The greatest mystery of 2023 will remain how we lost to Brisbane

🥱

Nick Daicos could challenge Clarry for the Brownlow this year. As much as I hate the filth I enjoy watching him play.

Fascinating game. Brisbane making mistakes under pressure but hanging in.

My interest is whether and how they take advantage of their ruck dominance. Some good signs so far but nothing spectacular

The Filth have great skills and the team is full of athletes, many who have high footy IQ.

JB and BT are the worst commentators on any TV station! This is an exciting game. They generate zero excitement. It’s so mundane

are they at the ground or commentating from docklands?

“Greatly played by the Brisbane Lions”. Never change BT

Yes daicos is is a good player but the fawning is over the top. You would swear Haydn Bunton had made a reappearance. BT commented umpires warning about an infringement. Simply no idea just letting them know it a throw up not a bounce.  The guy has no idea

!@#%٪٪×+ BUT HE IS SO SO SOFT HE AINT A TOENAIL ON CLARRY.. Wash ur mouth out🫣

The Lions running a plus one around stoppages.

Theyre defenders also making sure they (mostly) remain behind the ball most of the time.

Even when in possession so they can cover off any turnovers a little better and clog up the mid field space that the Pies love to almost always run through in waves looking for the overlap

Clarry’s biggest problem in the Brownlow is the same as it’ll be for most of his career. He plays alongside Tracc. If he played on his own for almost any other club he’d probably have 2 already.

Lions turn it on at home. Not surprised at all

hopefully they keep losing on the road

Whoevers going up in the ruck the last two contests for the Pies.... both times he clearly had hold of Daniher's jumper....no free

Maybe, but i doubt he loses any sleep over it. He would trade a Brownlow for another flag with all his team mates in a heartbeat.

As good as Daico is "both of them" they are one way players and have no real defense

Collingwood have sent out their sparky in search of the Gabba’s fuse box.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
