JB and BT are the worst commentators on any TV station! This is an exciting game. They generate zero excitement. It’s so mundane

And add Daisy to the duo and it’s highly painful to listen to.

I hope the filth fall in a heap in the 2nd half and get obliterated.

So can someone clarify this for me pls...

Player takes a mark under severe pressure with opponent bearing down.

Opponent runs over the mark in his attempt to spoil and put player off from marking.

Umpire then calls player (who has gone past the mark) to come back a meter or two and stand the mark where he (the umpire) believes the mark was taken.

Player goes back but then does not stand the mark and keeps going back away from the mark.

My understanding was that if he's instructed to come back a meter or two he cant then decide (for himself) that he's now going to run way back behind the mark to an 'outside 5' set up.

In other words the player standing the mark can't have it both ways, especially when instructed by the umpire to go back and stand the mark.

This happened just now in tonight's game... with the umpire doing exactly the above but then allowing player to go back and actually calling him as 'outside 5' after initially calling him back 2 meters (to stand the mark).

Anyone??

Daisy is one of the best special commentators out there! It’s the main commentators jobs to build excitement.

Yes i reckon Daisy should be replaced with our on-the-ground spruiker for the half time Demon Dash.

She's so much easier on the ears  🙉

The implementations of outside 5 and where the mark is are a dog’s breakfast.   Inconsistent

Lions forwards have taken away the aerial dominance of the Pies by often playing them one-on-one. Hipwood is showing what to do with Moore - stand next to him.

Daniher has shown his best tonight. Get him away from goals and let him influence the play around the ground.

Around the stoppages, the Lions are doing to the Pies what they did to us. Knowing that the first disposal is usually a small flick handpass, they are chopping it off or denying it completely. A really good tactic in modern footy. Well coached Fagan.

That ruck dominance starting to show

STARTING ???? Pies have been OBLITERATED all night in the Ruck🤣

Lovely to watch peeèzweek pies

Pies getting pantsed here. Sick of hearing how great they are. I hope the Lions put a hundred points on them.

And we are outright flag favourites as we speak.

I still feel Collingwood aren't out of this. We know how they come back

Will be a big ask without a ruckman

Getting destroyed in the middle

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
