Oliverโ€™s last three kicks to unmarked Brisbane players.

ย

Chandler, TMac, Brayshaw are not performing at the required level. I'd risk to say they are not in our best 23.

So we finally win a clearance ...the ball is dumped out of the middle with seconds to go yet not one tall or medium forward is sitting in the hole at HF!!??????????????????????????????

Trash. This entire game needs to get in the [censored] bin.ย

Maybe time to step away from the game and computer.ย

Stop fumbling, stick tackles and outwork themโ€ฆย

We won that quarter.

Make no mistake. They are only in front because structurally we are missing our 2 most important players. Maxโ€™s injury really deflated the team, but they fought back that quarter. We are such a tough team.

Iโ€™m sorry but do I know you? Walk on sir.ย

This next half is going to show how strong our character is. Everything that couldโ€™ve went wrong did.

Forget about that first half & come out strong.

I think everyone of Oliver's kicks have gone straight to a lions player.

Harmes needs to loft but he's certainly not alone.

Bbb trying and doing very well.

Jv isn't fit.ย

Come on Tmac show some leadership.

Why ask Viney about Max. Why not just stick a knife in his heart.i.

I expect the skip to motivate the boys at HT. He doesn't want to dampen their fighting spirit.

So many fumbles, no control at all, a couple of players a pass and thatโ€™s about it. Very lucky to be this close.ย

Boy, Viney was [censored] in that little interview.

Our blokes are playing bruise free, jumping at shadows tonightย

Not having a tall HF sitting in the hole for the center bounce 666 is unforgivable

We CAN win this. We have played like trash and are still within 20, and even won that quarter. If we come out with the right mentality, firing and give these bogans NOTHING.ย

Not trying to make an excuse but I am just wondering how much the hard surface of the ground is not being handled well by us. A surface that they would not have trained on or played on. We seem to be missing / not picking up the bounce of the ball

What a disgraceful comment. Footy involves 2 teams. Sometimes, believe it or not, you get beaten. Check yourself before you comment next time.ย

Agreed โ€ฆGrundy has def had the better of Oscar โ€ฆa lot of our players are flat โ€ฆas I am seeing Gawn but letโ€™s see how they come out after half time before some very average comments from so called Melb supportersย

Thatโ€™s probably it actually.

Melbourne not ruling out that itโ€™s an ACL and Gawnโ€™s reaction is a very very very bad sign.

They are because our depth is a mirage but they arenโ€™t good players.

Chandler is meh.

T Mc is just hot and cold and the ruck isnโ€™t helping.

Gus is Gus. Probably a decent mid or tagger. An ok winger. A fraud at a half back against good supply, just wants to drop off all day longย

Last week Brisbane led Port Adelaide by 12 points. They lost by 54 points in the end. Just an observation.

I havenโ€™t given up this game.ย

Don't be coming in here with that sensible talk.

It's half time and we're 20 points down. It's the absolute WORST.ย ๐Ÿ˜œ

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
