Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Definition of traveling OK:

  1. Smash both teams we played in the preseason
  2. Smash a finals contender in round one
  3. Have FOUR of our best 10 players missing from the round one win available for selection in round two

You'd have to assume they wont take any risks given multiple comments from coaches etc that we will be more conservative with selection this year in terms of not playing anyone with niggles.

Personally i'd be really surprised if all four are selected, but if named in the team in all likliehood they'll play and will be good to go.

A stomped on foot with bad bone bruising that’s not left to heal properly can turn stress related which can be anywhere from 4 weeks to 4 months. No risks taken at all, as there shouldn’t be. Forwards and feet aren’t things you ever rush and when you do, it’s heavily regretted long term.

Trudat. I’m no expert and I’m certainly not an elite footy player (well, I’m not in our best 22, anyways 😁) but I sprained my ankle very badly in December and discovered - after the swelling had subsided but the pain didn’t - that I had a fracture in the sole of my foot.  I saw my doctor last week and she said it’s not the fracture causing the pain right now, rather it’s the bone bruising and soft tissue damage that I left unaddressed for so long that’s the problem.

"Cameras Only" so not closed training.... Very interesting as they used to say.

What should we read into this

I read it as cameras only allowed in for the warm-up part of training then out for when the main part starts.

Probably correct but a budding conspiracy is better.

Where are they training.. the only place we have that is capable of being "closed" is Port Melbourne

Geelong have their own wrap around enclosed $100m+ stadium funded by us.

No spying concerns for them at training.

Let me get this straight:

neither Schache or JVR can run out the game or run in similar patterns to TMac

Yes he played in a Premiership and all going well he'll play in another. However if he's injured as has been alluded to and it's his foot again, then I'd say he's getting close to cooked. This site has gone on about JVR like he's the next David Schwarz so I'm keen to see him play. Schache was recruited to back up the forwards and to pinch hit in the ruck so I'd like to see him play as well. As I said I'm a TMac fan but he did little on Saturday night beyond freeing up Brown. If he's even sore I'd play someone else. I am impatient for the future though, that's my curse.

I'm with you all the way Sister/Brother (not sure if you're male/female 😀).

Here's my perspective FWIW . . .

I've dreamed for almost 50 years about the Dees having a powerhouse team. And until 2021, I had given up. Then we delivered the best 40 minutes of footy I've ever watched on the grandest stage of all. Over 18 months on, and I'm still on a high. And I'll be forever grateful to all the players at the club in 2021 for providing one of the great highlights of my life.

How does this relate to TMac? I just love him. I've watched a lot of plodders go around for the Dees over 50 years, and Tommy is a very 'up-market' plodder. Honest, heart and soul guy. Not overly skilled, but has certainly made the best of his talents. And for the rest of his life he can say he played at CHF in a Melbourne premiership. The hardest position on the ground to play - and if you're beaten there, you don't often win the granny. And for that, I'll be forever grateful.

So, my previous comment about TMac has that context. A supersonic plodder that delivered when it countered.

knowing a little bit on this one, T-mac will be managing the foot in general post-lisfranc pretty closely.

Lisfranc is a total putz on the rest of your foot, there'll always be little complications.

I will bet my bottom dollar that he doesn't fly to Perth in round 4 and JVR gets to make his debut in front of family and friends.

Fairly surely we can take on West Coast without TMac and still win.

I'd be tempted to rest Gawn as well. Grundy is a real plus in our armory

Will be a fascinating season on the rotation front if injuries are low

I would suggest all of Tmac, Gawn and Ben Brown will get rested at various stages throughout the year.

We play North and Hawks twice and West Coast. While no game is an easy one, you can take your chances against lower sides to rest your best and oldest players.

It was going well until you said "..As I said I'm a TMac fan but he did little on Saturday night beyond freeing up Brown...." - which was surely a KPI and he did that well and, again, that was a big contribution to our gameplay.  Can't  agree with the"..did little.." bit.

One last time, He's a top level plodder, nothing more. His strength's are he's a smart footballer and a great endurance runner. Now if JVR can't reach that level then why was he given the number 2 and why the hype? I've never seen the kid play but the reports were coming in that he's the second coming, not just from here but the club also talked a big game. If McDonald gets injured, or his form plateaus at this level then FFS play the future whilst you've still got BBB running around. That's all I'm saying, oh yes and I also wouldn't mind seeing the other Footscray recruit given a run at some stage.

I'm not dissing TMac but the upgrade has arrived hasn't it? I mean you don't buy the latest Mercedes and leave it in the carport to continue driving the Commodore just because you got laid in it.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
