Could be wrong but didn't someone on DL post it was Stafford.  If so that fits the 'foot of a giant' description😉.

Different incident. Stafford didn’t trod on Fritta’s foot.

Channel 7 said it was a standard scan post off season surgery.

Channel 7 also said Viney and May more likely to return this week than Salem and Fritta.

Must have been the foot of a giant that stepped on Fritta... 6 weeks off for a stomped foot sounds like someone is lying.

Salem and Fritta might be fit but because of the long lay off they might need to get match fit either through more match sim at training or game time at Casey.  Hopefully Goodwin is in an info giving mood at the mid week presser.  Or the weekly injury video from Dr Laura(?).

Did he definitely miss?

Uneducated guess on my part. He was not in the training guernsey that the other players are wearing in the clip. The gear he is in players who aren't "footy" training usually wear.

I don't know for a fact that he didn't train but I'm not buying that the scans are just part of a routine check up.

Not saying he will miss footy or that he is injured but there might have been some awareness during the game and the scans are a precaution. If this is the case it makes sense not to train/load it either.

Just my opinion rooted in 40 plus years of deep-seated MFCSS

No one’s lying. It might not be as simple as a teammate walked past him and stepped on his foot while it was flat on the ground. If the teammate was running and/or Fritta’s foot was at right angles to the ground, for example, you can imagine the damage that might be inflicted.

Sometimes things aren’t as straightforward as we imagine them to be.

I've long been a TMac fan but he must be close to cooked. If either Schache or JVR can't offer what he offered on Saturday night then why are they on the list.  Name one thing he did that the others couldn't do. Not to mention Fritsch will take Laurie's spot soon enough. If JVR hasn't built the tank as someone suggested then play Schache and see if at 25 the penny has finally dropped.

Bullock. TMac has a physical presence that none of the other options provide

Garbage on Fritsch. No one is lying.

A stomped on foot with bad bone bruising that’s not left to heal properly can turn stress related which can be anywhere from 4 weeks to 4 months. No risks taken at all, as there shouldn’t be. Forwards and feet aren’t things you ever rush and when you do, it’s heavily regretted long term.

I’m not suggesting that we should rush him. Never have, nor have I ever questioned the club’s management of him.
I’m just saying that it seems like something far more sinister than a bruised foot. As you say perhaps a stress fracture. Which is very concerning for our best forward. Especially when TMac and BBB are also not exactly the pillar of health.

Just putting this out there, dunno if it’s any good?

If Mayzie comes back this week and if… IF… TMAC is out, Tomlinson is 1cm short, yes he’s lighter than TMAC, but he looks very mobile and has played across CHF before plus he is hungry to play in a premiership. Considering a part of TMACs role is to open up space for BBB, I don’t see why he couldn’t fulfill that role?

Happy to be wrong?

I do. But I won’t betray a confidence. I just wanted to make it clear that he was injured as a result of a teammate accidentally trodding on his foot during training. It’s nothing more than that.

Why not just play Petty up forward if that's the case? At least he has recent form as a forward.

Personally, I'd rather play JVR as a forward than Tomlinson.

Not sure why we would look to Tomlinson who hasn’t played or trained as a forward for 24-36 months now when we have JVR (who was close to being selected at the end of 2022) and Schache both fit.

Fair call. Only going off what others have said about JVR in other threads, apparently Goodwin has commented that JVR doesn’t have the tank at AFL standard yet.

If Goodwin is brave and we want to throw a grenade at Brisbane, Petty up forward would definitely be that.

Yup, Schache is probably the first option. I’m commented about JVR in the above post and I guess all I’d put forward about Tomlinson, is Petty went forward for one game last year and did well whilst also not having trained in that position for 24-36 months. If we wanted to reward Tomlinsons efforts for last week, give him a go up forward.

Run

and . . . um . . .

play CHF in a premiership side. Less than 100 men have done it in 127 years.

And I confidently forecast neither JVR or Love Shack will do it in 2023.

JVR come on down!

Doesn't sound like great news for TMac. He's struggled with his foot for years now, and at 30 years old it's not going to get any easier to manage or recover from when injured. Shame his last few years have been impacted by the foot as he was really hitting his stride as a good key forward.

There is an Elephant in the room! aswe speak!

TMac is one of those players that will need to be managed and probably have a couple of games rest throughout the season I don’t think we can expect him to play every week

    NEW CHAPTER by Meggs

There was no setting sun to ruin the spectacle this week, just the rising moon over the brand-new empty GMHBA Stadium in Moorabool Street. It was a perfect evening for footy on a pristine surface with an enthusiastic crowd building.    Children dressed in Demon colours formed a Guard of Honour as the reigning premiers ran through the raised Demon banner declaring: MELBOURNE & GEELONG, A NEW CHAPTER IN THE OLDEST RIVALRY.     The strong travelling group of Demons

    BATTLE OF MORDOR by Meggs

Shadows form over Middle-Earth as the two oldest football clubs in the land Melbourne and Geelong take battle for the very first time for 4-points, down at Kardinia Park (aka Mordor). If you dare, come venture down the highway and support our talented team. Melbourne’s Season Eight form line is 4 zip and we’ve been playing some scintillating footy.  The fanbase is growing.   It needs to be said that our opponents so far have hardly been top shelf: Collingwood sits 12th on the

    SISTER ACT by Meggs

In the twilight at Frankston Oval, for the first ever match between Melbourne and Hawthorn, the Demons were clinical winning by 59 points and remain undefeated in Season Eight.   The Melbourne team ran out to a wonderful #DeeArmy banner paying tribute to Ron Barassi, ‘a football legend, the greatest Demon’.     So true!   Meggs was super excited to see Irish recruit Aimee Mackin playing her first game.  Aimee quickly showed us that she belongs out there with composure, ga

    ON SONG by Meggs

Meggs asks is it time to heave ho the melodies and words of yesteryear and update Club theme songs with some Australian composers and singers?     What prompted this reflection was the discovery that this week’s combatants’ themes were written by the same early 20th century American composer, George M. Cohan.     Cohan’s melodies The Yankee Doodle Boy and You’re a Grand Old Flag have been used by Hawthorn since 1956 and Melbourne since 1912.   Even earlier, the clu

    RUN UNBEATEN by Meggs

The Demons withstood a spirited challenge from the Western Bulldogs in the 10th anniversary of the Hampson-Hardeman Cup to run away with it in the last quarter and take their unbeaten run to 12 wins on the trot, an AFLW record.   The Doggies were tenacious and their losing score of 6.5.41 was the highest score against Melbourne since their last loss against Brisbane in Round 4 on 18 September 2022.   With the sad passing of AFL football legend Ronald Dale Barassi, champion player

    LEARNINGS OR BURNINGS by GOTO

Well, the 2023 season is over for the Demons after a two point loss to the Blues in the First Semi Final. All season WE have been hearing about the “learnings” that the team needed to make after each loss, but how much have we actually learnt when they:   1. Lost four successive finals at our own home ground;   2. Fell in five of their last six losses despite having more shots at goal and in the sixth, they had an equal number of shots;   3. Lost seven games by under two
