That was a fun game to watch. Youngsters really showed their worth.

Geez Jefferson can certainly take a good strong clunk. 7 marks and kicked 0.4. Still needs a bit of work but the talent is certainly there.

It's a pity poor old Schache copped a knee to the head because on today's form he was absolutely in line to replace Max. JVR didn't do his chance any harm. Just play the kid and get some games and experience into him now.

AMW, Howes and Kye Turner were all very impressive as well. Turner certainly provides drive off half back and AMW has a crack.

Seston is an unfinished product. Definitely needs to work on his tank and consistency throughout games, but when he does look out. The kid can play.

Thanks KC and all posters Casey really turned up today and that was a great win with a lot of debutants in the side. Go Casey Demons.!!!

Was about to ask that?  Copped a knee in the head late in Q3 so hopefully not concussed.

I was in and out watching the game and missed the Schache injury. He was excellent in the parts that I watched, kicked a few goals and took some contested marks. I thought he looked like a shoe-in for next week. What's the prognosis?

At first it seemed to be just an issue with his eye but Unfortunately he has been concussed.

That is so disappointing for Josh and MFC some players just don’t get the breaks.!!

Not a bad game to watch. I thaught the whole Casy side contributed to the win. First one I amgoing to mention is Seston. He can ply. A good mark and has good ground skills. Can read the play well also. I would be replacing Melksham with Jordan next week but the main one is Max. If Schache is okay then he should replace Max but if not then JVR who i taught got better as the game went on. I was not greatly impressed with Dunstan or Laurie. Good at vfl but not for afl.

That really sucks for the boy.
I think last night showed that McD really shouldn't be the back up ruck. Schache would have been great given his game today.

I don't think we should drop McD at all. His body work helps the other forwards and he's back up for defence. Just don't put him in the ruck.

Is this the time to (finally) unleash JVR?

Bugger.  So now he's got a minimum 12 days to curse his rotten luck 🙄

I thought Jefferson was supposed to be an elite set shot kick? Any idea what happened?

I thought it was his marking rather than his kicking. But I also haven't seen the points today, so they could just be hard shots.

Not all of his scoring shots were set shots. However there was one in the last quarter that missed narrowly. Given it went through near post high from 55 metres,  I think the boy can kick it a bit.

1. 45m kick 45 degree angle in to the breeze sails through narrowly left

2. Sharks the subsequent kick in, probably nervous about the wind and the miss, plays on and gets partially smothered. I’d imagine he would usually go back and nail this one, just a rush of blood

3. Quality quick snap in heavy traffic that doesn’t catch the breeze, not a bad effort

4. Long range set shot with the wind that probably started just left when he needed it just right of the goals. Not a bad kick, made the distance easily

Not sure what the 5th was.

Great, thanks for the info. Wind obviously a factor.

Beautiful set shot routine.

Any astute observers compare Seaston - when he gains AFL fitness - to any current or well known player’s role?  (Hopefully the comparison to Tapscott was either tongue in cheek or to his build and not his footy output.)

What happened to Disco?

Good question.

I didn't see Daniel "Disco" Turner out there today?

Was pleased with the performances of many of our players.

Thought Matthew Jefferson did alright with a few good marks. Just gotta learn to kick straight.

Yes and I noticed he has a bit of mongrel in him too, which was surprising. When he develops, he and JVR will be the keys in our forward line.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
