Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

we love multiple talls deep contesting rather than balance it up with a tall and a small, have the tall fly and the small crumb.

This… so much this.

For the life of me I don’t get our forward set up, the ball can burst out of the centre or backline and somehow we STILL have 2-3 tall forwards all in the spot contesting for the same ball, with rarely a small still there to crumb.

I’m regularly screaming at the TV asking how week after week we don’t address this.  Worst of all opposition with an otherwise organised defence don’t send all defenders up at once so our forwards spoil each other and they have the numbers when the ball inevitably spills out the footy rebounds with ease.

Don’t get me started on the F50 entries either.  Long, high bombs of the horror years are back in vogue for the Dees and it’s just awful football to watch happen again and again and again…

I had no confidence at all kicking into this forward line today. I really felt we needed a lucky flick off a pack to have any chance of scoring.

I don't know what we do about it though, there aren't many more levers to pull here. Getting Kozzie into the middle to give us a better look at the middle robs Peter to pay Paul at them moment. Chandler can't seem to get near it, I really don't know the answers right now for this.

Simple - lack of any movement. Stand still and wait for the ball to land on your head.

And team work, still little to know blocking for Gawn or anyone else.

I listened to Gus & Gawny’s podcast during the week, which had the Wiz as guest.

He was talking about how dangerous they forward group was in his prime - Wiz, Schwartz, Neitta, Cam Bruce, Brad Green. Any of them could easily kick 3-4 and often a couple of them. Not dissimilar to the Brisbane example used.

The way we setup is making a difficult task, kicking goals, almost impossible as it’s having to be done amongst 24 players by the time we get it in

The number of times we bombed it in to a 5 or 6-person pack was depressing. We couldn't take the mark and we couldn't win the crumb. Why do TMac, Roo and Gawn/Grundie all have to contest the same ball? Why isn't one leading to the right pocket, one to the left and one up the centre? FFS

A forwardline of Ablett, Dunstall and Buddy wouldn’t kick a goal with the sort of forward delivery our talls deal with on most weeks.
But also our tall forwards are either physically done or infants. We need to chase a developed tall forward with serious gusto in the off season.

It was mountain pack madness

What’s happening with Koz?

I thought Koz almost won it for us today.

Our delivery is atrocious.

Something needs to change with our coaches and our processes. Both delivery in and our leading out.

As someone mentioned, it seems almost like luck when we get a goal.

Certainly felt like most of our goals today were from luck

I reckon JVR should focus on athleticism and endurance in the off season. Be top 5 in time trials and be able to work your way up the ground and find some space to mark it.

The way the game is played, contested marks in the forward line are rare, it's not a sustainable approach to have that as your major strength by bulking up and trying to be a physical beast to the exclusion of endurance.

His ferocious attack on the ball will never leave him, no matter how many kg's he takes off.

We need a creative Jeremy Cameron/Harry Himmelberg type of dynamic forward more then we need a Tom Hawkins/Harry McKay clunk it type imo.

Although we could try our hand at recruiting Harry Himmelberg if we can clear the cap space.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
