I can imagine how you got the bruised knees, but the moonboot and sling have me thinking you are doing it incorrectly.

No, I had a black eye and bruised knees, and Mrs Frittata was in a moonboot and sling. So I guess she’s the one doing it incorrectly.

But at least she’s doing it, amirite   😂

I've been listening to Gerard Healy every night on the way home from work since 2012 and can absolutely confirm that he has been extremely positive about the Dees for many years and had identified our potential as a genuine premiership contender since the late Roos/early Goodwin days.

He definitely does not come across as a bitter former Melbourne player, and his close friendship with Nathan Jones has probably had the opposite effect, in that he was quietly hoping we'd eventually taste the ultimate success.

Well you may be correct, but my memories are from a period well before 2012,  or it might be my own bias against someone who turned their back, and went for the money. I do not have any concerns about his brother or before then Alves, and some others who went to other clubs, but after a number of years of service.  Some to get a premiership medal some who didn't.

And some the club did not do enough to retain or recompense.

In my memory we were about to have a period of success and he left, and that kept us down for a few more years. Stuff him !

I think he makes them a poorer side so having him play is an effective team punishment

High - 2 points

Intentional - 2 point

Medium impact - 1 point

Practice match - minus 1 point

"He wouldn't have meant that" - minus 1 point

"He's a champion of the game" - minus 1 point

'"The fans want to see the best players playing" - minus 1 point

So that's 1 point. Fine seems about right.

Princeps Innocentus. Family felidae, genus thug, species sniper. Small predator, most often attacking when its prey is at a disadvantage. Coating of slime protects from capture or retribution.

As Grundy was kicking his goal at the end of the first one of the commentators said that Grundy had “poured bit of a bucket on Craig McRae and Collingwood”. Does anyone know what he said?

It was on a program on Stan called “Show Me the Money 2”. It was about the AFL draft …what goes on behind the scenes, I really enjoyed it. In one scene & I’m paraphrasing here… Grundy was saying he could get how the “suits” don’t want you but when the coach looks you in the eye & doesn’t want you then I’m like …..well I’ll ply my trade elsewhere & I’ll see you f#*king Kings Birthday. It was said with a grin …I think Dwayne got the wrong idea !

Couch grass Cotchin getting of.....

Nuthin surer!!

I hope so,

We as a club did not give enough cheers to his father in his dad's last couple of years of football.

We made a serious mistake I think,  amongst many I give you,  but I think some egos got in the way some how and not enough common sense, probably from a few people.  He should never had ended up at the filth.

2023 looks very promising,  enjoy the year.  Go Dees

We couldn’t afford his wage after the Brownlow win. No one factored that happening. Sad but true

Pretty sure @Willmoy1947's comments were tongue in cheek

I didn’t for a moment think that the post was entirely serious, but I took it as a (deserved) compliment to the players. But I was very surprised to see Sparrow bracketed with Clarry and Trac.

Just sayin' ...

Hitouts: Richmond 37 Melbourne 24

Nankervis 24, Soldo 13, Gawn 12, Grundy 11, TMac 1.

Clearances: Richmond 33 Melbourne 32

Centre Clearances: Richmond 18 Melbourne 11

Stoppage Clearances: Richmond 15 Melbourne 21

Just shows that raw stats mean bugger all.

yes, yes, and yes

he's [Woey jnr] one of those classique 'solid' players who looks like he's not have any trouble being a contributor at afl level - not a star, but the equivalent of a harmes, sparrow, jj etc. who can play a role through midfield and covering forward / back as required

...and don't forget that he is several years junior to those mentioned.  An exciting prospect. (stick neck out - a prospective f/s Brownlow winner ??)  😀

Maybe it was Brundy's  actions that poured the bucket.

I keep thinking about this post.

I’m amazed that they put Sparrow in there. I have thought for some time that he might develop into something like Petracca, but I would then think that I was being fanciful…

Apparently  his determination was noticed to go through three tackles, which he normally wouldn't try. Just a couple of other little tweaks in the peripheral vision judgement too, in both games.

Brodie, smokey for BL. Now that would be a bit of history..

I've finally had a listen to Yze's press conference from Saturday's game.  Very informative.

Sounds like Fritta is the most likely to return for R1, with Viney also quite likely.  Salem is looking like being 2 or 3 weeks after that.

He also said although it's easier to spread the midfield minutes with younger players in the practice games, it's important that they continue to do so during the main season.  Both to reduce the workload of our elite midfielders, but to also develop the younger ones, so it seems that as a general rules, that will continue during the year.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
