I’ve only heard about McKay as a specific target. The leadership group was consulted and were a part of a pitch I believe.
Other than that, a KF was a priority but no names.

i want to believe

If we can use JVR et al as backup rucks and we have Schache in reserve as an early signing surely Lobb is totally off the radar?

Any interest in Haines at all? GWS are shopping hard.

Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I think he’d be a perfect fit.

With that said, Carlton and the Dees will both be fighting for the top four next year and they may be wary of possibly filling the only serious hole on our list.

Haynes is supposedly owed 1.5m next year.

I wonder if you could talk the Giants into a similar deal with bowes.

If they upgrade our pick 13 to pick 6, and we take on his Salary given we're opening up some nice cap space

I think this could be a smart move given we're clearly not planning a big signing in the next 12 months, he would at the very least provide some experience and depth and we could take on the 1.2 million or whatever it is for next year which would appeal to the Giants

we could then dangle 5, 6 and our future first under the Eagles nose and see if we can still prize Harley Reid out of the Eagles

Something says your desire to come up with a deal is overtaking realism  in this proposed trade.

Why should Melb pay $1.2 to Giants who have overpaid some of their top players for years so they can keep them and now Haines is yesterday's fish and chips wrapper. Just because we want Harley Reid.  There are probably easier ways of getting hold of another top 10 pick and Suns and Cats might be a chance.

And how do you know Melb might not prefer and be ready to throw $1.1 mill at a Harry McKay or other key forward.

JT and his crew would be all over this I reckon and we may find out any moves over the next few trade days.

You could probably cop $1m for 1 year and Giants have already said they would contribute and then give a much worse pick, say our 2nd rounder, for their 6. I wouldn’t give 13.

I also see us trading picks up and 13 is too valuable for what we might ultimately need to get done.

I am still hopeful of 11 from Swans for Grundy and spices.

With currently 5, 13, 23 and 31 plus picks to come, we could really get into a very good position, for something we had no chance of doing.

After all this we’ll likely lose Jordan, Harmes, Grundy, swap a few draft picks and go to the draft. Feels like we’ve missed Reid and surely McKay’s not going anywhere. Curnow for all his excellence was a complete bust when it really mattered. Carlton won’t ship McKay off unless it’s a godfather deal and we ain’t giving them that……or are we?

I heard yesterday that we weren't even talking with Naughton's management. So not sure where that rumor started. I believe the interested clubs that ultimately led to his extension were Collingwood, Geelong, West Coast and Sydney. Sydney reportedly put in an offer of $11M-$12M for 10 years for his services. That is crazy.

Couple of things mentioned on trade radio this am on the commute:

Concerns that with the deal to Naughton and then English that they might not be able to keep ammara Ugle-Hagan.

Beast Mode Angry Phil Read version 2 - Rhys Matheison may also be looking for new opportunities. I know he can attack people but is he fast? kick?

Hear me out. Rookie spot for Mathieson just to play 1 game against Collingwood, matching up on Maynard. No specific instructions of course beyond 'just be yourself'.

Amazing how quickly footy is changing.  10 years ago a 5 year deal was fairly rare and breaking a contract was uncommon

No teams just sign their guns up to 7-8 year deals to avoid losing them to FA

and players having 3 or more clubs is becoming not that unusual

Fullarton huh? 200cm fwd ex basketballer

played 19 games for 6 goals.  no games this year due to injury or Lions having too many talls? not sure

Long term prospect and hopefully not the last tall we grab

3rd-4th round pick id imagine

Former Junior Australian Basketball Captain.  Last played in the semi against us last year. Can take a mark and a reasonable kick for a big guy.

Can’t imagine it’s more than potato chips. Out of contract, is their 4th string ruck and their 4th string key forward.

With both Tim English and JUH coming out of contract next year and the huge cap squeeze they will undoubtedly had. Which one do you chase? I dont think either qualify for FA, so it will be a Jackson scenario.

Who do the Doggies chose as i think they will need to make a choice. English is a versatile ruck/forward, who will probably take over the ruck domination when Gawn retires. I cant see many challenging for the AA ruck position for the next 3-4 years.

JUH on the other hand has really been underwhelming. Perhaps he isn't suited to playing in the same forward line as Naughton ? Or he was just overrated. I think he is the better target to chase as the Doggies do have a excess of KPF stocks.

So it'll be JUH, Ben King, Cadman all potentially uncontracted after 2024. We should be lining up to land one of these prospects.

If true it's not crazy, it's totally insane. He is not Buddy Franklin at his peak.

Possibly the steak knives from another deal perhaps  ?

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
