Why is Bailey Laurie under uncertain future when he's contracted for another year...

DD36. I think after 3 years there may be some clubs asking the question and maybe some offers for him. Seemed to again not take opportunities but limited chances really. Agree it’s not likely but I’ll rate still as a possible.

Can't see Laurie going, unless he gets a big offer elsewhere, which is unlikely.

Upgrade Turner and McVee 🤔

Reckon it will be 4 draft picks incl Pup Brown

McAdam from Adelaide rumoured to have requested trade to us

Any FAs we might be into?

Had a good look at Duursma in tonight’s game. Just no. I remember him being the best out of the lot of the youngsters they picked up in the 2019 draft. What happened to him.

no fear

was always behind rozee and butters

Lack of continuity is really hampering him. Burst on to the scene playing some decent footy (probably got up to pace faster than the other 2) and pretty much playing the same level 4 years later.

If you got his body right there’s still a combination of pace, endurance and contested ability (especially overhead) to make a good footballer. But with constant set backs his ball use and decision making is a mess.

Just can’t see how you’d be brave enough to offer Port the required trade capital to get him when contracted.

Seen some articles indicating Duursma at Port is gettable for the right price. Would be a great addition and we may be able to work something out with Grundy in play. Kind of player we sorely need.

We're you watching Saturday night, Duursma is f'n hopeless.

Xavier Duursma is not exactly the toughest footballer going around

Highly likely. Hibberd to retire. x ANNOUNCED

Highly likely. BBB to retire  x

Almost certain. Dunstan - delisted x

Unrestricted free agent  James Jordon to go x .           I think he’ll look at offers and look to get more certainty and support like Bedford did.

Saddens me but ??? Gus… will have to reassess his health and well-being for his future ☹️

—————————————————————-

Probable. Harmesy to stay one more year. 🤔
Probable. Melksham. One year deal. 🤔
Possible   TMCD to obviously consider retirement though he’s internal determination means he’s likely to give it one more year   🤔

Unclear  Kye Turner   Last man added in February. He looked ok at Casey but not certain he could step up   Given Tomlinson likely to move on, he might stay as backup key defence  🤔

why? Signed Schache to one more year 🤯

——————————————————————

Trade options for Dees.

1. Grundy  - obviously the talk is there and it will have to be explored   x

2. Tomlinson - not given chances by Goody so like Hunt/Bedford , he’ll likely select to look elsewhere x

3. picks to trade up. 5,15,24,34

—————————————————————-

probably 6-7 players to add to the list.

Shane McAdam trade in

Kynan Brown father son

3 other youngsters

additional ready to start player - trade or free agent

This is what kills me, I think Gus hangs them up and I was on the fence about pursuing Harley Reid but I think if we lose a gun mid nose the time to grab one even though they aren’t like for like

because the rumour is he wants to go elsewhere for more opportunities

When will the compromised Drafts for Tasmania kick in?

That will play a big part in clubs strategy this trade draft period.

Laurie in my view is a long way from AFL standard very poor choice

What rumour?

Got his opportunity in a big final. I'd be very surprised if he leaves.

ANB, Chandler, McAdam, Woey, Spargo, Harmes, Howes maybe, AMW and Laurie. Kynan Brown and maybe another coming in.

Seems a bit top heavy and Laurie is the one that might leave if a trade could be done.

I still think Deakyn Smith could play HF or HB. I think he can make the step up. Would love to see him get a chance, maybe as sub against a weaker side next year.

Apparently Harmes has interest from Richmond, Carlton, Sydney and Essendon.

Send him to Sydney with Grundy, get pick 11 and a fourth round pick

latest rumour mill on sen:

  • grundy to swans with pear pulling out of the race
  • jj to aints as a free agent
  • harmes and tomlinson on the market
  • we're chasing early picks

I hope one of them snaps him up, for his sake and ours

Hope we re sign Jordon

Closest midfielder we have to Brayshaw

Harmes leaving can't hurt his chances either

If Harmes, Jordon and Dunstan all leave we'll have close to no midfield depth.

Perhaps it will be a focus at the draft but surely we will look to bring in a mature mid like we did with Dunstan.

JJ to Saints makes sense for both parties I reckon.

agreed

do we get any compo? or none cos he's effectively dfa?

We'll get compo, he's now classified as an UFA due to being delisted previously.

Can't imagine it will be anymore than a 3rd rounder.

Having said that, I do wonder if there's compensation if saints offer him a base contract of like 2yrs x 100k. That may not trigger compensation.

If we are thinking Brayshaw isn't going to play, we need to secure pick 1 and Harley Reid.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
