He’s a Melbourne player until he’s not. Until then we block out the unsubstantiated noise and enjoy watching him play.

Leave Kane Cornes to disappear further up his own [censored] and keep shouting into the cavernous wreck.

Yep. If he signs, he signs and if he doesn't, he doesn't. Let's ensure we get the best from him this season and let the cards fall where they may.

Sorry

That's not even a sensible suggestion.

Wines to me other than his Brownlow year does  not impact games enough and Viney is a better footballer than him.

We would want Rosee or Butters plus a second  round pick to get any where near the value of Kossie. He has a decade or more of footy ahead and a like for like is essential in this case.

He is out of contract. We aren't getting Rozee or Butters unless they elect to move to Victoria. Rozee is from Adelaide so that's unlikely.

If they are out of contract you have little option. Hence we accepted the deal for Jackson.

Exactly. He is contracted to play for the Demons this year. Let's enjoy watching him play.

This whole ultimatum thing is ridiculous. What are we going to do if he refuses to sign? Send him to Casey and lose one of our most important players for a season where we have a shot?

Here's my One Cent. No More Draft picks,  if Port or any Club Steal one of our best players for Sweet FA then I and our club should be demanding one of their best players. The AFL supposedly has to sign off on fair deals supposedly and if we get Butt plugged again because we took a chance and capitalised and contributed to a player becoming a good one then a stand has to be taken. NO MORE DRAFT PICKS. We've got those so now it's about making Our Club stronger not making the AfLs clubs who no one GAF about stronger. Kozzie Please stay a DEMON.

Maybe some Footballer will decide they want to play for a Club that wins regardless of how much they get paid or where they're located. Who in their right minds, now if Melbourne said we want you to play for us wouldn't want to. Someone I wouldn't want to go see each week.

Damien Barrett and one of his AFL website colleagues spent a segment last week talking about Pickett leaving.

Barrett does hate us and would love it to happen.

Looking forward to venting my anger out to twitter about the C9 footy show this season.

Love all the stars they have on to brighten things up each week, in place of players, and the back stabbing and orgasmic quizzes.

And the way they show each other their collective knowledge and endearing remarks without a postage stamp in sight.

Well loved by all the boys sure, but the club is obviously aware that he’s feeling the loss of his two closest mates Toby and Luke by bringing in Burgoyne over the summer and thinking about Liam Henry in a trade. Let’s be honest, we don’t need either of those players and it’s all Kozzy related

🤔  His two closest mates? Anyways…

I can’t imagine any Club, least of all our own, picking up unneeded players for the sole reason of trying to retain one player. Especially given the picking up of any players, regardless of who they are, doesn’t guarantee that he’ll stay.

Losing a generational ruckman and small forward in the space of 12/24 months would be pretty disgraceful let alone just after winning a flag, club will need to have a look at itself and what went wrong if it ends up that way. We haven’t even started talking about Rivers yet who is also out of contract and from WA

Cornes is hanging onto a comment made last year during trade period. "In love with Melb, but not the city."

I'll try again, a comment by who? Your correct that this what Cornes keeps trotting out and you've stated it was made last year during the trade period, who by Cornes? I don't recall Kozzie being interviewed by Cornes and I just don't see Kozzie seeking out someone to tell them this.

Apparently Mitch Georgiades is a strong chance to head back to WA, what would Port get for him? Do they have a future 1st?

Not exactly.

There's reports that it's not so much the WA pull but the Victorian clubs interest.

Ok I'm just curious as to what Georgiades would be worth in terms of draft picks, a lot of ppl saying Port have got nothing to deal with when it comes to Pickett but I'm pretty sure if he chooses Port they'll find a way to get it done. It's my understanding they still have a future 1st up their sleeve too.

My mail is that the club have offered Kozzy up to 5 spots on the list for family and friends if he stays.

Unfortunately he’ll probably never play again, for any club - too traumatised after losing his housemates.

Anyone who’s lived in a share-house knows how devastating that can be, and most people never recover.

Rest assured, Kozzie is well-loved by all of the boys.

He also has a girlfriend who isn’t from another state. They’ve been together for quite a while and her family are all here in Melbourne.

Pickett: I want to go to Port Adelaide.

Girlfriend: But all my family are here in Melbourne.

Pickett: They’ve offered me $600k more over 3 years than what Melbourne have offered.

Girlfriend: I’ll book the fights.

You really think so little of our list management?

I am sure money is not the issue here.

Like it or not Kornes is connected at PA.

He's also the best in the industry and stirring up [censored] and knows that to a degree, the more he stirs the more self fulfilling this will become...Melbourne staff and fans get desperate, and either 1) overpay to keep him (in which case Kornes gets to balance his stirrer persona with some humility - "I got it wrong, I put my hand up", or 2) force Kozzie and the Dees to become distracted and perform poorly. This both a) makes kossie cheaper and b) strengthens the case for him to leave.

In this world - when you throw mud it sticks.

It's just our lot unfortunately and comes with the territory of having a player like him. Every other team would love to have him - even for a year - and we've got him for this year. So that's good. He might return to Adelaide and have a chronic injury, a personal issue, something else - we don't know what's around the corner. He's been a hugely successful draft pick for us and that should be celebrated irrespective of what happens from now on.

To those saying the club needs to look at what it's doing wrong - we're a victim of our own success. I doubt Jackson would be gone if we hadn't won the flag. Kossie would have always been in demand the way he turned out, but I actually think the early flag provided these players some closure having had some 'romantic' success - meaning they turn their gaze to a more transactional 'now where do I want to live and how much do I want to get paid' mentality to play out their careers.

Particularly on Jackson and kossie as they were crucial contributors and received a lot of accolades. Not sure I get the same vibe with Rivers who I think still has something to prove to himself and the football public despite being a premiership player.

Whole situation does make me very sad though. I want him to play for us forever.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
