That was made known when he first came to Melbourne, he was living with "Uncle Nev" when he first came to the club.

One of his cousins is a student at my school, she is a Wanganeen.  He has family in WA, SA and Vic.

This just reminded me of Kozzy trying to get Jetta to wear (or possible even have) his premiership medal after the GF. Great stuff.

There's a new diversion in the out of contract young stars saga...

The Swans always play their cards close to their chest when it comes to AFL trades, and insiders rarely agree to speak publicly about contracts and offers. But well-placed sources suggest Sydney are willing to offer De Koning a monster, eight-year contract to lure him north. We contacted the Swans with questions about their interest in De Koning; they did not respond by the time of publication.

The AFL will love it. The Swans are not allowed to bottom out. They need Another long Contract as Buddy looked totally gone in the GF

Maybe they were after Grundy and missed him and up popped "De Conning" instead.

Why they would want him........

He should be a very good player. 8 years is a very serious offer, although so was Kurt Tippett!!

Pop Corn?

impeccable logic

I really feel for these young blokes, imagine being 18, 19, 20 barely able to cook your own toast in the morning, and then being asked to move to the other side of the country and having multiple major organisations offering you enormous sums of money and having to weight that up. it's admittedly a good problem to have, but geez it'd be a bit to work through

For the record i reckon Kozzie will stay, my read is he and his manager are expecting Kozzie to improve quite a bit this year and as such his value may also jump, i suspect the delay is about 80% about getting the best possibly contract and 20% making sure Melbourne the city and club are the right fits for him, though i reckon just about any manager in Australia would be trying to get him to stay given we seem likely to be around the mark and possibly winning some more silverware in the next few

You were spot on with Brayshaw signing his contract last year.👋

So I'm backing you and your sources with Kozzie🤩

Haha i've got no actual information on this one beyond clubs and particularly Melbourne are really excited about Kozzies improvement and how much damage he can do spending more time in the middle. he's genuinely challenging the front liners for time in there already.

Also could have all the hallmarks of Angus Brayshaw 2.0 and holding out only to re-sign....

Most of these journos have no idea

You definitely have the runs on the board! Above all though I think your take makes a lot of sense, this would be the sensible approach from Kozzie and his manager. Have another great season and make your next contract the bumper one.

One of the boys an the debrief teased info about Liam Henry and said something about Kozzi signing next week 🤷🏿‍♂️

Trying to think of how much a Pre season Kozzie signing will offset the stress of missing players this week..

Bulldogs appear to have their own injury concerns and players out.

Evens itself out .We'll be ready.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #7 Jack Viney

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

The Demon premiership defender who has the reputation the master of intercept possessions as well as great leadership qualities managed only eight senior games this season as he battled injury and form, prompting speculation that he might be enticed to look elsewhere.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #12 Koltyn Tholstrup

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Clayton Oliver, a four-time best and fairest winner at the club, has navigated a challenging period over the past two years, marked by injuries and personal issues, but has demonstrated promising signs suggesting a return to his optimal form in 2025. He is presently contracted to the club for an additional five years, with a substantial annual salary of approximately $1.7 million in the final seasons of his agreement. All at Melbourne are eagerly anticipating his resurgence to his previous peak performance levels.
