Freo have put the cue in the rack. I think they'll struggle to win a game for the rest of the season from here. As the Beatles once said, "Hello Pick 4, my old friend"

Why is it that players think this is honouring a coach you have just helped get sacked.

Can Hawthorn win 3/4 games to get above Freo?
They have North, Richmond, St Kilda, Collingwood, Footscray, Us and then Play Freo at the MCG in the final round

Freo's only soft game coming is against West Coast

They are not trying honour the coach. It's self interest. They want to demonstrate that they are not the problem and if they had a proper coach they would be getting better results.

They have 2 good ruckmen but are being pantsed in the middle. lol.

No Sarong doesn’t help. Their midfield is shallow

Those first 4 goals from Collingwood off half back and straight through the corridor were terrifying. No team stops those

We did.

Freo’s defensive work is hot garbage. That was embarrassing from them.

To think we traded Jackson, Jesse Hogan and some pick swaps for what has ended up Steven May, Tom Sparrow, Ed Langdon, Jefferson and potentially Picks 4 and 23.

I.found myself singing Auld Lang Syne this morning, but every lyric is replaced with Pick 4

So what does pick 4 become after NGA’s, academy picks and father and sons?

Pick 5 probably. Walter (GC) will likely go top 2. Rogers and Read (both from GC academy) will be first rounders but most likely later half of top 10 onwards.

No f/s prospect so far is being talked about as top 10 potential.

Of course this can all change.

Still a lot of movement in that part of the ladder, but we'll get a really good pick considering what we would have had coming into this year.  Topping up on some high end talent will prolong our time in contention.

Walter likely to be the only one inside pick 5, so four should only slide back the one spot. Ethan Read is probably rated at around 5, but don’t think he’ll attract a bid inside 5 (ruckman rarely get selected in that range these days).

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
