Gotta be one of the better highlights packages l have seen for a 30 something pick ...

Completely different to similar recruit in 30's our much loved Harry Petty.

I picked Harry out from his first highlights package (for our AFL backline KPD) which featured some great one on one work and tough body contact then kicking and disposing in good style.

We all know the result after some injury delays as Petts a premiership player and a mighty fine back man  and lieutenant to Maysie and Rick.

Reading above a summary of Jed's footy journey last season it highlighted his great value off the field and ability to get the backline in order ( in true May and Lever style).

A fast tracker I would say and plenty of team ethos with Disco Jed snd the other AA Backs in the Backline Club. Reckon Riv will find another level with a WA boy there to help.

Oh and Jed has already done some cameos up around Full Forward with some success. Remind you of ??? ( Tmac JVR Petty and even S.May!).

Exciting times ahead as Casey will provide an early grounding along with pre season for Jed's experience and development from the 2021 Masters of Defence and Coaches.

Fascinating to watch!!! Bring it on !!!

Welcome Jed.

Spot on.  Small sample size watching his highlights, but has Jason Taylor woken up this morning thinking he's won tattslotto?

How did Adams get passed to Pick 39 will be a story of the future.

The injury angle just reminds me of Joel Selwood being passed on by 6 clubs because of injury.  Smart Geelong knew better.

Well done to JT and team.

Whilst we're in the 'window ' now, the next few years will be fascinating also from watching some real talent develop under the mentoring of a premiership cohort and AA experience.

I hope this is true as much as we all do, but how many times do we a similar story for injured players every draft year?   It feels like such a common narrative when a player misses a couple matches and they end up sliding and **insert AFL club supporters** claim to have struck gold.

The couple days after the AFL draft, every recruiter would be strutting around like a young Freddy Mercury after just killing it at the draft.

Anyways, back on topic - From the 2 minutes of highlights I have seen of the kid, I like the look of him.  Looks courageous in the air with good hands and aggressive intent.  Basically, everything I like in a KP player.  Not sold on his kicking action however.

The dees would have to the best club for any key position defender to come to in the AFL when it comes to learning from two of the best in Lever & May.  Imagine these two, teaching you positioning, blocking, structure etc.  I think we'll be sound in the defensive unit for years with players continuing developing from the best.

I've always thought a reason why we've always had great rucks is the knowledge passed from one to the other on top of their natural skill.  Stynes develops White, he develops Jamar, he assists in developing Gawn and then so on.

Hopefully young Adams gets similar treatment from the backs.

Thanks Macca.
Do you concur with most D/Lers on Jeds future and ability?  Better than Davies with his upside? Or even or better than  Busslinger?

I didn’t really hold an opinion prior to him becoming a Demon.

Now it’s unequivocal YES. 😂

Yes, good attack on the footy in the air. Bigger [censored] than MJ - I reckon he is more ready than Jefferson to help out in AFL.

Agree rpfc but great upside In both boys who both look fine footballers with plenty of skill xfactors and appreciation for their respective roles in those very important key positions.  Can't wait yo see their improvement under our/Casey system.

Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed

Well the first thing you know ol Jed's got drafted
Kinfolk said "Jed move away from there"
Said "Melbourne is the place you ought to be"
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Casey”.

The last time we had an Adams at the MFC he played in 6 premiership teams.

Spot on I knew him well.  A great guy who didn't live quite long enough  to see us finally win a Gf.

They probably will in two years.

Maybe, but I'd think he is not going to be a 'wannabee back home' type. The reason for this is JT. I reckon that Jed might well have been 'sussed out' courteously but comprehensively with mutual intents before the draft, face-to-face and JT played the royal flush to perfection. How on Earth did he last to the late 'thirties' in the draft? Silence actually is golden, heh?

Frank?  Toughest nugget in town .... another angry gingerbread man. THAT is the type of mongrel we need now and I am looking at the Bowser to provide it in the future alongside Sparrow. Tweet that!

Don't think I've seen a more promising highlight reel from a 18yo KPP and one that has had plenty of time out if the system injured.

Jed's upside looks enormous and love his style of play on and keep the ball moving. Great mark also.

Let's not be testy/ impatient with MJ's development if it's not as fast as we want or is left behind by Adams and of course JVR who will have 12 mths him.

Dees fans are not known for patience if results are not speedy and almost instantaneous!!  Good luck Jed, MJ and of course JVR.

I have a feeling that  our next Flag May be tied up in the progress of ONE or TWO   of those lads.

Go forth and improve guys the world is your oyster.

Don’t forget, Goody left JVR at Casey for the whole year, to learn and gain confidence.I thought this was a mistake, should have played him .

Yeah, Goody... what would he know. Bloke neva achieved anything.

What a massive mistake. Ruined JVRs career

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
