  • Demonland changed the title to GAMEDAY: AFLW GRAND FINAL

I expect it to be tight, but I’m quietly confident that Daisy will be holding up the silverware at the end of the day.  The ‘Demon Spirit’ will prevail.

Straight shootin' Demons  to trump Banana Benders in the Moonlight Sunshine State.

Despite the odds

There is something about going to a game, being the underdog, being completely outnumbered in the crowd and then winning.

Doing it in a grand final would be exquisite.

Get it done girls, it's time.

There is one thing we know about this group - they won’t die wondering. Today they will prove they are the champion team.

Bring it home girls!

We're facing a very good team, on their turf in tough conditions. It'll be a win for the ages if we can pull it off.

Gotta match the Lions on the inside. And we need a big game from Tayla.

My heart says Dees in a nailbiter

Me too BDA. Gobbing my heart medications before heading off to the game shortly.

Fingers (and toes) crossed, Brownie!

Enjoy the day and cheer extra loud for us. You’re repping the Dees who can’t be there, but we’re all there in spirit… DEMON SPIRIT!!!!!

We can do this!

GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!

❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙

Thoughts n prayers for the regular passengers on this flight: the nuffies at the back may seem subdued now, but give ‘em time and you’ll wish you never heard of the bloody Dees. 🤣

And that’s only a few of them. Other earlier flights were even more nuffy-filled.

Let’s go Girls!!

A lot will depend on Harris being fit. But I reckon we can get it done. Defence has to be first as if the Lions get going they can’t be stopped

Tayla trained really well on Thursday. She wasn’t restricted in any way whatsoever. I know the Club are gonna say publicly that she’s 100% whether or not she is, but I have it on very good and very reliable authority that she legit is 100% and raring to go!

Tayla has the added incentive of being 3 for 3 playing in losing Grand Finals (for three different clubs). She’ll be super keen to atone.

They may be few but trust me, they are LOUD and they are UNRELENTING.

Loving the passion here and in other related threads. Delivered at the ground and through the ether, I reckon it'll provide that required 1%.

Place and time didn't pan out for me, and I'll be 'on stage' throughout, but I'll have the live score pinned.

Demon Spirit, your time has come.

What a great two years it will be if the Demons can get it done today. The men last year, Casey this year and today (hopefully) the spirited Demon women. Go Demons!!

I hope our scores come from a spread of players. Paxy, Fitzsimons, Hore, Tayla, Zanker, time for Hanks, maybe even West to goal and Daisy with her many assist.

We can't let their forwards hold it in their forward area. Need to be able to find our way out without them finding multiple entries. Goldy needs to find clear air, and have some shimmy and a side step so she doesn't get caught. I want Gay to find precision passes.

Work hard ladies, do the simple stuff, be clean and hoping they get and stay in the zone.

Go Dees

Just decorated the lounge room with the kids. Nerves are jangling, excitement is rising. We are the underdogs with every possible disadvantage, a victory today would be nothing short of remarkable.
CARNADEEGRRRRLS!

So nervous right now. Can’t begin to imagine how the players feel. However something tells me they’re in a great headspace and calmly ready to go out and kill it. That’s how they’ve been this past few weeks. It’s all been building to this. This is OUR time!

GO GIRLS!  GIVE ‘EM HELL!!!

❤️💙

Come on girls we've got this.

Hope Harris puts in a better performance than last year & I'm banking on Paxman to dominate.

Daisy to hold the cup aloft and we put it in our trophy cabinet.

I'm assuming our pres has made the trip. Anyone know of any other officials who have made the trek?

Kate is definitely there. Just as she’s been to training and matches all season. Not sure if anyone else is there.

How’s this for a “winter” sport…

The PGA golf in Brisbane has just been suspended due to an incoming electrical storm.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
