My suggestion (the clean version) is "Stuffa Round".

'Reach' didn't make it past the selection panel

Any danger they can release the games and times by now?

They probably haven't worked it out yet.

Look full credit for getting creating with the name and not being generic but it reminds me of trite company office speak and 'gathering round' for stand up meetings and that sort of rubbish.

"The many fan ideas for the round included United Round, AFL Roadshow, Footy Fiesta, The Big Show, Family Round, Connection Round, Roving Round, Premiers Round, The Grape Escape, Hanger Round, Round Five!, AFL Mega, Celebration Round, All-in Round, Magnetic Round, Destination Round, Fanatics Round and Festival of Footy".

How they picked 'Gather'.with those suggetions...

Someone has a sense of humour suggesting to call it:  Round 5!

they could have done a harry potter and called it round 4 1/2 😂

I got an email today from the club telling me how to get tickets for this game in Adelaide.

Is anyone looking at going to this game?

No, prefer to go to the port Adelaide game in round 10 , when I presume I won't be gouged by inflated accommodation and flight prices.

Sounds like good thinking. I went to 80% of the Grand Prix when it was in Adelaide. I would be surprised that there would be much accommodation left after the requirements of players, club officials and player families are catered for. I had to book a room 12 months in advance to get accommodation in Adelaide for the GP. Add in the unreliability of Airlines and it seems like a recipe for disaster to me. Why would I go to watch a side other than the Dees. I can watch another side anytime  for 6 months of the season for the cost of buying an enter ticket.

I was surprised that the team we play in the "The Long Goodbye to Gil Round" wasn't one of the teams we play twice in the season. It seemed to me that it would make sense to have all teams playing in "The Stupid Concoction of an Idea Round" playing each other again to enable at least one of those games to be played at the home city for one of the clubs. For us, it means that we won't play Essendon in Melbourne (the city) at all in 2023. As you may gather (see what I did there?) I'm not a fan of "The AFL's Bizarre Idea to Promote the Game Round" and not being able to see a home and away game against a Melbourne club in Melbourne when it could have been so easily arranged just seems wrong.

Great tread but isn't this bizarre afl thought bubbles title really " the virgin airline price gouging opportunity and excessive enrichment round".

Anyone thinking of participating should have a good look at themselves.

Got the same email but only saw it after work today. Indicated that I had to redeem by 4pm today. Have i misread this or Is this correct I have missed out on the opportunity - I'm confused maybe I need to glass of read or maybe I need a holiday. Actually I will do both.

Going …got 2  day pass …accom booked …can’t wait !! Missed so many games over Covid so every opportunity I’m going to try and get there !!

Was going to say I'd be surprised if there's that much accom going round. Might have to bring in cruise ships.

That's the spirit. I'm of the same thinking. Missed way too many games and special moments 2021.

Tickets are surprisingly cheap if you want to go to multi games.

Be interesting what sort of crowd they get for our game. I presume the crowd will be more for the Port game.

Last time I checked, mediocre 3 or 4 star hotels are going for $400+ a night in the CBD.

Motels in the inner suburbs are probably the way to go if you want to save some $$.

Sounds like good solutions. To be honest I only half read it because I have no intention of going to Adelaide.

Just checked the email. The tickets went on sale before I got the email. Not the best timing.

If the cricket test is any guide.... for crowds a lot less than than they will be anticipating for the Harry Potter Round... literally everywhere is booked out including the Barossa Valley

I assume the Melbourne Football Club is Gryffindor? Gil is Dumbledore? Who else? Go your best.

I thought that Gil was Voldemort.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
