Ben Rutten Sacked

Absolutely pathetic. Disloyal. Delusional. Hubristic. Idiotic.

How many more adjectives can I find to sum up this apalling decision?

This has set them back five years regardless of who they hire next.

It will have them rattling tins for survival in seven if the Golden Boy gets re-hired. That would be an absolutely inexplicable move.

An irony in all of this is that they are as insular and delusional as we were from 2009 to 2013. However, as they are a financially powerful club, the AFL can't intervene on financial grounds. They do need intervention because they keep going back to the same cadre of Sheedy/Hird cronies who have failed them time after time.

Some trace their downfall to when Sheeds didn't get his contract renewed. That's debatable but I am positive that they need to find him a comfy chair, some slippers and a sudoku to do. His presence in that football club isn't constructive. If Essendon fans are serious, they will want him and his mate, Dodoro, out of there.

Im thinking someone must have cursed Essendon after Sheedy left as they have been a rabble since.

Whoever did this deserves a big hug.

As for Rutten I would be more than happy to see him join the Dees.

I'm nominating @WalkingCivilWar to represent Demonland as Hussler Hugger in Chief. We all have much to be grateful for today.

Please, please, please CBF, do not give them any good ideas.

They had no other option but to sack him. Essendon are [censored] of a club who put themselves in this position. Destroyed a man who will most likely not get another chance at senior coaching.

And on this day, the curse of Ben Rutten was born …

Long live the curse!

Sheedy runs the club. Next coach will be James Albert Hird. May they burn for eternity.

Should have stuck by him. Made the finals last year. Sticking with the coach like we did with Goodwin pays off eventually.  Same as Hardwick and Clarkson

Was thinking the same thing - he seems to care a lot for his players and has held himself with great dignity this week. Deserves to come into a FD that would make him feel welcome and treat him with the respect he deserves

That day, the Essendon committee had unleashed a curse!

Bingo!

Xavier Campbell needs to go too.

Perhaps they should appoint Malthouse. He obviously rates the list or he wouldn't have tipped them to win the flag this year.

They made a mess of his end but Rutten coached the 2020 year as well and they were awful then.

2021 was all smoke and mirrors.

2022 obviously a mess.

They could’ve backed him but they need wholesale change regardless.

And for those who bemoan our pressure forwards and defensive mids getting a game have a look at how a team without any in Essendon defend. That’s their glaring list hole and they pay for it game after game.

Rutten, Caracalla, Gia all highly rated at various times. All potentially good fits at the Dees to work on skills and offensive game.

“The unfortunate reality is, at various stages this season; we have simply been uncompetitive. And while we acknowledge that we have an emerging playing list, we were compelled to make the decision." David "Ricky" Barham. 21 Aug. 2022.

Um - how many players on the Essendscum list would get a game with Melbourne in a fortnight? And when nominating them, state who they would replace in the Melbourne side.

(By way of comparison, I recon there's five [5] at Norf.)

In one post, @Beetle has characterised my s3x life and work environment.

Wonder if Dank will be Hirds assistant.

Whether Rutten can coach or not doesn't in any way excuse their behaviour this week. People management clearly not a top priority at the Bombers. They happily threw Mark Neeld under the bus in the middle of 2018 to protect their own. I hope they continue to rot for a long time.

All now in the dumpster bin provided by @Beetle

Would we want anyone from their list? Wright and Merrett the only ones. Maybe Parish. But Merrett's contract would be too big now. Trainwreck indeed.

Wright for Melksham - if we go back to playing two talls, Merrett for Sparrow, Parish for Jordon. Take Draper for ruck depth.

Who are your five at North QD?

Join a few together and call it the dumpster train.

(More to throw out)

All aboard the dumpster train!

Parish, Merrett, Stringer

Their best players are all weak as [censored], how could you possibly build around them?

They're gonna have to blow it up
