Just watching the Doggies games and have seen a few Viney/JJ type tackles applies by the doggies and even they didn’t get the free.

 

I mentioned it earlier on in the week, we just don’t get frees paid (lowest FF this year) I wonder if it has anything to do with being premiers and opposing teams are getting a helping hand.

I do wonder what the umpire's coaches say to them. It could explain a lot of things.

No, but we are likely to have more inside 50s. We average 8.5 more than our opponent across the year. It's precisely how we want to play, and because we're still a good side despite the losses, more often than not that is what happens.

Collingwood meanwhile average 12.11 this year. So they're less likely to go 15.6 the next time than we are to double their inside 50s.

We sell one home game. But the AFL sandwiched it between four straight away games, not a single one of which was at the MCG.

Hawthorn sell four home games. The most consecutive games away from the MCG they've had this year is four, but the bye was in the middle of that run, and two of those games were at Marvel.

North sell four home games. The most consecutive games away from Marvel they've had this year is three.

St Kilda sell one home game, like us. The most consecutive games away from Marvel they've had this year is three.

Bear in mind, too, that we won the [censored] flag last year, whilst these three sides won a combined 21 games. Yet we're the ones who cop an unheard of run of away games, at a pivotal time of year, and including a five-day break, and then back-to-back six-day breaks.

Our Brisbane-Collingwood fixture run was incredibly difficult. I am not at all suggesting "she'll be right, it was just the fixture", but it has to be acknowledged.

We have played 20 matches this year.

We have built a 20+ point lead in 19 of them (Geelong the only one we didn't).

With that sort of platform, 2021 Melbourne would be 19-1 right now.

I maintain that 2022 Melbourne's best football is good enough to win the flag, but 2022 Melbourne doesn't produce it long enough within games.

Had an absolute gutful of getting done by Collingwood.  Even at our best they do us over!

When I say we were humiliated on National television it is a figure of speech meaning this is a Friday night football game for the country to see. It doesn't mean I was not there, in the cold seeing the disaster unfold first hand, I very much was.

I posted about our fixture earlier. Looking at fixtures further, Collingwood's first of their 11 wins was against Fremantle in Perth in Round 10. Since then, they have played 8 of their other 10 games at the MCG, they've only had two games against top 8 sides (us twice) and they've played five games against the bottom 6.

In the same period we've played 5 games at the G (including none for five straight weeks) have played 7 games against top 8 sides (will be 8 if the Dogs end up making it) and just one game against the bottom 6.

We were not humiliated. It was a cracking game, which could have gone either way.

We lack foot skills and are exposed when there is lots of pressure. 
 

 But we should have chipped a lot more to slow the tempo down at times.

Shame we didn't play more games away from the G. Apart from Brisbane and maybe GWS we have not played great footy there at all even when we've won.

6-0 interstate. Strange but maybe we are better off playing finals interstate!?

And the ones we get are where they are the least effective, time wise, position wise and the receiver is barely capable of taking the kick.

Yeah we did. I hate it enormously. 

I HOPE IT WAS BROUGHT UP IN THE ROOMS, BECAUSE IF I WAS COACHING IT WOULD HAVE.THE WAY OUR PLAYER WAS ATTACKED WOULD NOT GO WITHOUT EVERY PLAYER ON THAT GROUND GETTING OVER THERE TO HELP HIM.

10 of our first 14 games were at the G. I don't think we can complain. Collingwood only played 5 of their first 10 there including having to play at home to West Coast at Docklands.

You can't complain about "games against top 8" when the fixture came out no one knew Collingwood, Carlton, Freo would be top 8.

Fact is we sold a home game which is the reason we didn't play at the G since the Lions game. If we had a run of games at the G now we would have had fewer games there earlier in the season. We wanted a season opener against the Dogs, we have Anzac eve and Queen's Bday, we play two of our last 3 at the G both home games against big Vic club's - I don't know what the complaint is here?
