Out of the 3 tall forwards for both sides, he was the only one to kick a goal. I’m not saying he played a good game obviously, but I don’t think BB would have done much in those conditions.

I actually thought Sparrow was avg at best. Maybe I hold him in high regards that what he produced Ā tonight (and last few weeks tbh) have been under what I expect from him.

Lots of room for Weids to improve obviously but his key role would for him not to be out marked and he ticked that box. Ā Similar story to ANB’s role which was to reduce the impact of Jordan Clark which he also achieved. Ā

Sparrow was good I thought.Ā
Harmes will struggle to come back in I think.Ā

Entire team = great team effort

Won the West...... tonight.Ā  In the context of top 4, this was huge.

3 word analysis?

Never, ever, forget.Ā  Tonight was huge.Ā  On their deck, in the West, against a top 4 contender.

We are just warming up.

The Weed played his role!

So we had all the above see time in the backline (Langdon quite often drifts back as a link player around half back - to good effect)

Brayshaw also helped out down back when needed.Ā  In soccer terms he'd be described as a defensive midfielder tonight but he did gain a lot of metres for the team (with well placed kicks)Ā

Hunt got amongst it even though his disposal was a bit iffy ... did enough to stay in the side (Harmes will come back though)

Still reckon Hunt is at his best when he gets the chance to work in conjunction with Langdon - happened a few times tonight.Ā  That duel pace attack would worry the opposition

Freo scored 5.9 so the backmen should be given a lot of credit (which is what you've done) Ā

My 3 word analysis

I think if you watch the replay you'll see he often plays a link role - sometimes just a touch or tap on that doesn't count as a stat. Must cover a few km also.

I thought he took a step tonight and was very physicalĀ

Sparrow - put body in

Sparrow, built a strong nest and stays

As I said, I really like Sparrow so I’m prob unfairly expecting more off him.

Almost perfect Joeboy. I love reading your work. First thread I go to after a game.Ā

Such a bad take once again. Try watching the game.Ā

Ham, it’s an opinion. It’s a great talking point and starts good discussion. If you don’t like it put your opinion here. If it’s abusive most will dismiss it. If it’s intelligent most will respect it.Ā

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

ā€œDiscoā€ took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.Ā

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.Ā  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
