Great win by the team.

Weideman would be lucky to play again for us, he was terrible all night. Didn't touch it until the second half in a game where we dominated the inside 50s.

He just can't read the ball in flight. On the lead and on the chest he is fine, but once it goes overhead and in a contest he is no good.

I'm convinced it is his eyesight.

Petty is like the Paolo Maldini of Aussie Rules.

Bring the same intensity next week and Collyflops won’t stand a chance.

The negatives for mine were obviously Weideman just having no involvement.

17 of our selected onfield players (and utilised replacements during the game) played extremely well and did the team thing continuously to beat the Dockers quite soundly, obviously and comprehensively. An extra assistant to this victory would make the likelihood of Dee dominance even more predictable and assured. Weideman just ain't that assistant and never will be - wake up, coaches and selection panel.

The harassment, the defensive skills, the tackling like you mean it, clogging up the corridor was back to its best tonight.

Spot on!

Viney’s played some inspirational games in Perth.

In 2017 he got 40 touches in a BOG performance against WC (the game T Mac kicked the winner)

The grand final and obviously last night.

Five minutes?! What part of I barracked for Essendon do you not understand! And I held on for the entire match. I was mere seconds away from calling Jake stringer ‘Jakey’ ffs.
Besides, surely having to see Chris Scott is worse than having to see Bevo coz Chris Scott.
Do it for the Dees, Ang!

Ill be screaming in support of the dogs tonight, despite my hatred of them and a few delusional supporters who think they were one josh bruce/easier finals road trip away from winning it. Even switched sides 1 quarter way through the 2016 GF when I realised the umpires were [censored] over the Swans in favour of the fairytaleâ„¢. Hatred of Geelong/Duckwood is just so much greater though!

Never in doubt.

That was our DNA tonight.

3 more to go lads..

6 more to go

I for one will be watching the Sunday Footy Show to see [censored]-eating-grin Matty "They can't win it' Hottake-Lloyd eat-his-words or dig his hole deeper.

Loved seeing Kane Cornes on Mondays Classified, stand up to him by telling him we can still win it because of our system. Flustered-at-someone-disagreeing-with-him schoolboy-Lloyd unthinkingly reacted with the attempted gotcha response: "what system?" - Our defensive system Kane responded with. And after 1/4 games remaining, it was a prescient response. Our premiership and 10-0 start gives us points in the bank for the most rational in the media, and for that I give credit to Cornes and Robbo and a few others for not jumping to the hot-take route of saying we can't win it.

I should avoid the footy media, I know. lol

Yes David King is another one. They are so reactive to individual wins and losses. Dees banked the wins and then hit a flat spot. A few injuries; loading and game road testing saw to that. BUT anyone with any nous knows if we keep cattle on field and play to our potential where the best in it. Whilst the cats have been good Dees would be quite happy with a match up on the expanses of the G. Age stop everyone and Duckwood and Danger will be exposed come September. If and it a big word Dees stay healthy and play to potential we will win it. Whilst everyone sees our draw as a liability it is actually a perfect tune up for  finals. Tigers of 2018 had a soft draw and were found out when whips were cracking. Seem to me once we bank enough wins for top two the Lions game maybe expendable. If we lose that watch all the pundits drop off again.

My dad worked out I needed glasses when I was a teenager when I kept running under the ball.

You’re probably on to something here.

THREE OBVIOUS THINHS THAT HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE.

1...J. Viney is showing us why he used to be Captain.

2. Hibberd...longer in the tooth but playing at his best.

3. Gus has become an elite player this year.

And a shout out to the fridge and milkman who have regained their previous form.

I just miss the old handball comps with Lou R and how they one the big prizes like a packet of franks and a block of chocs for their sweethearts.

No expense spared.

All hail to the new guru called Binman and his disciples, Vipercrunch coming to mind!

Following the Demons for 50 plus years, aside from calling out at the footy, go Dees, umpire, the next would be RUN, as for so many years lots of our players were very reluctant to put in the extra yards!

Our current Demons really run, tackle go hard, and it has been noticeable over last eight weeks when it drops off, it stands out and is explained by Binman and his loading disciples.

Fantastic to see the Demons running, tackling, going hard for four quarters last night.

Aside from loading we saw with finals coming near, the little extra effort or ruthlessness as mentioned by Gus on display last night!

Lots great points already made in this post game thread, but a number of things I really liked:

- Rivers back in business, but more zip and confidence back in his game

- Hunt was good and I like his speed

- Trac back in beast mode

- Salem looking more like Salem

- Fritsch, Kossie, Spargo all good smart forwards games

- Melksham level of effort

- Brayshaw gave different look in the middle and the backline didn’t miss a beat

Tough night for all talls!

The industry is pretty much . . . last thought that went through my brain is the truth. It's pretty much Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe.

Meh. You can pretend you're above it all if you like, but I consume and enjoy all footy culture, be it demonland, deebrief, fox footy and free tv shows, websites (Bigfooty, mongrel punt etc) radio and podcasts. We're in the premiership window and I intend to consume as much as possible, and call out the ones who go down the route of hot-takes. So what? It's not like this is going to last forever.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
