Selwood constantly whinging and complaining and people wonder why he is not respected as he should be. Just play the game FFS

The Channel 7 graphics department must have borrowed some 3’s from the other channels to be able to show the age of so many of these Geelong players. My word they are old. It’s insane.

Yes and won’t it show up in September. Geez I hope we play them.

Selwood is a gun, a great footballer, tough and hard as nails, courageous and more skilled by foot than he is given credit for. And he is probably in the top 5 captains of all time. One of the best last quarter players I have seen, and is personally responsible for getting the Cats over the line in many games through leadership and courage.

But his ducking, whinging, throwing, and "lip service" to opposition players and umpires marks him way down in terms of the respect he gets - from me and many other non-Geelong football people. My daughter, soon and I went to the Geelong final in 2018 and got seats near the fence at the dug-outs where all the interchanges happen. We could hear and see a lot of what went on. I have never, ever in my life head someone whinge and complain like Selwood. Really surprised me, and really annoyed me.

Despite all his greatness I can't stand watching him play now.

It’s a horrible experience for any supporter from another team. For a stadium that’s 60-90 minutes drive for 5 million people I have no idea why the AFL continues to allow them to cater purely for their members.

Look at the experience of Optus, The Gabba, The Adelaide Oval, or the SCG. Why is the closest out of Melbourne experience so absolutely dreadful?

And while Marvel cops a lot of flak, they’re actually pretty hospitable to the opposition. Same with the Adelaide Oval.

Forgot during my rant to mention that we had to pay $61 for the privilege of subjecting ourselves to the Mordor experience. That’s more than any other venue charges.

Agree with most of that but one of the Best 5 captains of all time?

not even close. You know how many flags he’s won as captain? Zero. Walked into one of the best sides of all time

I honestly don’t know how it’s allowed to only offer only ~700 oppo tickets. Surely there are some rules? Should be minimum 3K. If not sold with 2 days out they go to home fans

Many Dees fans missed out. We had cheer squad members struggling to get tickets! And then we get there and there’s a tonne of empty seats. 😠

Ridiculously soft free for the Cats. Umps are a joke.

Plenty of throws, unpenalised, from both sides. 🤮🤮🤮

PS what a pathetic shape for a “top level” ground, in the premier competition.

How could nobody have tackled Duncan?  Now another nail in the Bulldog ⚰️

Umps changed the momentum of this game

Footscray have pooed themselves big time. Last week was their Grand Final

Jeelong are just hideous in all facets

Absolute Karmichael Hunts

Dogs are done

I'm turning it over to the Crows game. They're in front by 9

Watching Geelong play at this ground is so infuriating. They just know what space to mark because they practice it every week with traffic cones. They did exactly the same thing against us.

Meanwhile every Bulldog player who played out of their skins last week look completely ineffectual when not on the carpet like surface of Marvel.

Cats look extremely good...pretty similar to us last year...just overwhelimg teams with inside 50s until the goals flow like an avalanche.

Dangerfield realises his chance for a flag is running out. He’s possessed tonight.

Ugh not only will they win but now they’ll probably have a massive percentage boost.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
