AFLW: McNamara to miss 2022 season

A weights accident! Thats bizarre.

Terrible news. She's a big loss. I love her dash and dare.

Defensive stocks getting tested with Colvin and now Eliza going down.

Sounds like a freak accident! Spinal is never a word you want to hear. I'm glad the surgery went well, though it sounds like a long road to recovery.

She's had some bad luck already, with that nasty concussion early in the final last year. A super talented player and obviously a well-liked club person.

Yikes, that is not a great start to the pre season between Colvin & McNamara. We're going to need some of the players on the fringes to really step up this year.

Such a shame.  Eliza was having a great pre-season, working hard on everything including her speed.   Wishing her a full recovery.

Spinal is such a scary word. Immediately shifts thoughts more to 'I hope she is okay' rather than 'how will this affect the team'.

Of course, since we already have confirmation that she is 'okay' (relatively), well, this is going to suck for the team because she is a real spark. I mean, she is practically a human spark on field and socially!

Get the feeling she'll hate not being able to bump around for a while. Fingers crossed for a speedy and clear recovery.

Clubs have until August 23 to sign injury replacement players should any listed athlete be moved to the inactive list before then.

Eliza has been moved to the inactive list so we have an opportunity to sign another player.

Close to being the most talented player on the list. Great shame. Hope she comes back well for 2023.

Gutted for Eliza.  Fortunately the prognosis for complete recovery is very positive.

Her aerobic capacity is a cut above most, and it adds a real weapon on one wing.

She's such a sweetheart. Pity she can't be part of it this year but what a player to get back for 2023

Noticed that Eliza's been on the bench doing some kind of role a few games this season. She'll come back with something extra from that. It'd be a tough injury to deal with but looks like she's handled it all well and making strides now, with a grin, of course, no surprise there! Will be a massive in for 2023.

Colvin joins the 'first post-injury run' club! Plenty of time before next season to tick all the boxes.

Of course it wouldn't be a training video without there being something alarming to notice like... Duffy in a moonboot!

And she was good on her return - had a few goal assists and her kicking inside50 is great.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
